Channel 4 Vote - 100 Greatest Cars

Afraid the Italians don't rank up against some of the classic british cars on there. If you've ever been in an Aston, they make the Italian cars look plastic kit cars.

I voted:
Ferrari F40
Ford GT40
Audi Quattro
Citroen DS
Fiat 500
Trabant
Rover SD1
Lancia Stratos
Jaguar E-type
Lotus Elan Sprint

Why the f*** are these in the list?
'93 Mondeo
Nissan Patrol
Merc S-class
Merc A-class
Lexus LS430
Hummer H1 (a car bought exclusively by w***ers)
Vauxhall Calibra
VW Phaeton
Toyota Landcruiser (like a budget Hummer... :tosser: )

Blatant omissions:
FORD CAPRI!!!!!
Alfa SZ
Lancia Delta Integrale
Skoda Estelle/Rapide
Toyota MR2 Mk1

Who the hell compiled that list? Mondeo but no Capri?

I'm with Poggy, ok Fiat do and have done some excellent cars, particularly the 500 I guess, but the greatest cars of all time? Hmm.

I've voted and my list is very similar to Jonnys but included the Model-T ford, WW2 Jeep, Jaguar E-type instead of the Lotus and the Lancia.

I use 4Car a lot it is one of the best and most detailed review sites on the net - but as with all these things I suppose it's impossible to please everybody when you draw up a list like this! What a joke though I mean the Merc A-class? That's just an ugly punto class car that's three times the price!!!

I agree with what has been said above, i work at a ford dealership and i have driven numerous mk1 mondeos and i admit there ok to drive and quite comfatable but no way does it deserve to be in the list ahead of things like a capri or an SZ. Jamie porter took me out in one of his SZ once and that was brill, much better than being a passenger in a mondeo or calibra. It makes you wonder what do they look for when they compile these shortlists.

As an afterthought wasnt the merc A-class the car that on the earlier models rolled over when it went round corners?

You're right as well I'd forgotten about that! Greatest cars ever indeed!

Audi Quattro - it was the first !
VW Golf GTI - also the first !
Lamborghini Muira - First Lambo
McLaren F1 - of course
Pug 205 Gti - Had to sorry.

i Voted:

Austin Mini (1959) Bags of character, screen icon,
Citroen DS (1957) Even now it looks like it's from the future!
Ferrari F40 (1988) I love it's boxy lines
Fiat 500 (1957) budget motoring made fun!
Land Rover (1948) Another icon
London Taxi (1960) Everybody loves these!
Toyota Corolla (1968) Id be out of a job but for this car-bland but remarkable!
Toyota Prius (Current) Had one. Loved it!
Volkswagen Beetle (1946) One of Hitler's better plans!
Volkswagen Golf GTI (1978) More than fuel injection and a red grille!

Can't understand how a Mondeo got on the list! would have thought the Sierra was more of a candidate!

If i had to pick any 90's repmobile, it'd be the the Xantia or the Laguna. big armchairs on wheels! Mondeo was very overrated. just cos a car has a bit of lift-off oversteer and an auto-reverse cassette deck doesn't make it a modern day legend

Hmm...theyre nothing on the 80's Citroen CX. That had 4 huge armchairs and was pushing for a 5th...basically a smoking room on wheels :D

i think the mondeo should be on there! i think that must have been a well cool car back in 93' (y)

I think you've hit the nail on the head M8. It may have been a cool car back in 93 but now it's anything but, whereas a SZ still oozes cool and a capri still looks good. Seriously i should draw up these shortlist thingys, id be great :p
