fiat cars in scrap yards.

Just read this thread, and i fell about laughing when i read the 1600 engine is crap!! Only one of the best engines ever made [originally from the 128]. Can be made to produce around 170bhp with torque to match. Cant get that out of a 1.2 16v, and the 1.2 16v head is very diificult to gasflow. IMO, the 1.2 8v is a better engine as you can make them fly with the right tuning.
Yes i know its off topic, but i had to comment.

Andy.

Well peeps...i have m reg fiat tipo. It runs fine and has some minor things wrong with it ( 1 wiper doesnt work, needs tyres, rear number plate light inop and a few other minor things). It has original fiat alloys and the obvious wear and tear for a car of this age. I am offering this whole car free to the first person that comes to collect it. reply to this message and ill give you my mobile number and make arrangements.

just been to my local scrappy just had in a k reg panda 1000, panda 750 and a p reg cinq sx also is a well stripped g reg panda its at albert looms in derby anyone need anything picking up i have got to go back next saturday. all the panda doors are rotten before anyone asks:(

On my quest to find a Tipo sunroof I found a Brava and two Puntos at Kidsgrove Breakers (Stoke-on-Trent)
The Brava was i'd say about 1997-8 (no plates), 1.8, 5 door, light blue, back end caved in but perfect front end and side doors. No wheels. Looked very sorry for itself :(
One Punto had been broken, 1.2 active sport, pretty gold colour on 52 plates, the boot door was up for £15 amongst other things if I remember rightly, the actual car looked like its engine had been on fire.
The other Punto wasn't very old, didn't get a good look but it was silver and looked in one piece (not to say it was! :p)

Hey people, just had a read through this thread (too many pages!), I'm after an old fiat panda 4wd pref. from 1990 or before, perhaps 1991 at a push! Paintwork can be utter ****e and bodywork dents don't bother me but I don't want too much rust!

Has anyone spotted one about, and/or does anyone know of scrappies in the Essex/Hertfordshire area, preferably as close to Stansted Airport as poss (nearest major landmark from me).

I've got the number for Kelvedon Autos near Braintree, and I'll give 'em a ring when I get a chance, anyone know any others?

Cheers peeps!

Might be worth posting up in the Classic Panda section. They're a reculsive lot and don't tend to venture to other parts of the forum much! They'll more than likely know where to look to find a 4x4 Panda. ;)

If you want Punto bits Marshalls in Newburn near Newcastle generally has stacks of the things...last time i was there they'd actually taken to stacking them they had two full rows (about 20 cars each) plus a pile....both MK1s and 2s they also have all the major recent fiats represented so Cinqs, Seicento, Brava/o, Stilo e.t.c. buts its an insurance yard so straight panels are at a premium....

If I buy a whole car from a scrappy, and they have sent off the v5c document saying it has been scrapped, can I get it registered for road use again? Is it the same as a major write off (cat D i think) where I would just have to get it VIC checked, or just MOT it?

Northwich Metals and Dixie's Autos have a massive selection of Fiats at the moment. A few Cinqs, a black Sei, one Panda, a huge selection of MK1 Puntos, also Bravos, Bravas, a Tipo and I think I saw a Marea Weekend as well.

Also went to Car Transplants, Nantwich, who have a black and a yellow Cinq Sporting, a few Sei Sportings, and 3dr Punto MK2 and that's all I noticed.

The black Cinq Sporting in Car Transplants was a late R reg model and I'm sure the steering wheel even had an airbag.

Google should help get you phone numbers. :)

I need a heat exchange control valve for a fiat 4x4 panda h reg, 1990 or 92 i think. Near East Yorkshire? Anyone got any ideas. Also there's a little rust on the doors and rear right wheel arch. It's not too bad but makes it look shabby.
