Right, some of you may know that i ordered some wheels for my Punto. However the wheels arrived, and i'm not impressed with them, in terms of realtion to what the picture looks like and there are a few chips on them.

I am therefore returning them!!!

Now i've been looking at chrome wheels!!

I live in Edinburgh, and have heard that the chrome gets ruined. However is there a way to prevent this from happening and how bad is it???

Do you guys think chrome wld look good on a black car????

Chrome effect wheels can look good, especially on a black car, but they are very hard to keep clean and another consideration is as you live in Scotland (I'm from Glasgow, tho living in Bournemouth 2 1/2 years) is the amount of salt put on the roads over winter which I think can eat into the surface and tarnish them. Thats why in general you see them on cars in California etc as the weather conditions suit them.

The only way you can really protect them is make sure they are kept clean and apply liberal amounts of good quality car polish to them to offer some kind of protection.

Aaron.

I have chromes on my gold punto and got to say it looks the dogs danglies!! i think chrome on black will look good too, check out my pics on gallery and let us know what you think? it is true salt on the road will hurt them but only if you dont look after them especially if you have chipped them so be careful (y)

you can get them dipped in a like a clear protecting plastic that you cant really see and it wont effect the colour of the wheel or finish! If you find a good company that repairs alloys they usually offer this service! Cant remember the exact name of what the process is called at the moment, but ya get me drift! My mate had it done to hes chromes n they have been on his car for bout year now n look like new!

i bought some chromes 17s for £120 form a friend of a friend but one was damaged any the others are neary perfect and all new tyres, any way PRO CLEAN said they could fix them (its still there) but they cant rechrome them sooooo i have let them do that for a bout £30-£40 and there painting the little bit were it was broke in an alloy color. and when i come back of holiday (thiland) in november i am planing on buyin just one new alloy. butttttttt i dont know were does them apart from import (KOSEI WK108 17") one place said they dont do them any more but they were £140 each new, so i need a little help here GUYs and GIRLs. but what do you think ( i only have the side 2 on):slayer:

i dont like those wheels on a punto at all, they look like the type you'd see on a rusty 1991 bmw 3 series in a poor part of bradford. :yuck:

your car deserves better :)

Sorry but IMHO chrome wheels are just so tacky, and scream out "LOOK AT ME I WANT TO BE NOTICED GIMME SOME ATTENTION!!!!". I mean, you might just as well be driving around in a yellow Punto....oh wait.....

:D :D :D

Seriously, though, if you like them then go with them, as long as YOU are the one who is happy with what you have got. Just be prepared for the extra vigilance and care involved. I mean, how gutted would you be if you kerbed them, even slightly. I imagine they would look horrible after that, and you would need to replace/repair them. Kerrrrching! £££££££

Good luck!
