Hi, I am a newbie here. I understand Fiat has introduced auto-blink turn signals on its cars. Tap lightly on the signal stalk let go and followed by three-blinks and then it stops automatically. It is used primarily for lane changing.

Three-blink is the industry norm. But some Fiat owners reported that theirs cars come with five-blink. Which is correct?

Please help! :)

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. I believe three-blink is the industry standard - Ford, MINI, BMW, Merc, etc. I have got three-blink too on my 11/09 Grande Punto. A 2010 Punto Evo owner and a 2010 Bravo guy in Singapore reported a 5-blink pattern respectively on their new rides. Did Fiat, departing from industry norm, upgrade to a five-blink system

The new Alfa Giulietta also has 5 blinks. Our 2007 Bravo has 3, so it sounds like FGA have changed to 5 on the latest cars.

iicr started 2009, all bravo software upgraded to have 5-blinks, choice to turn-on/off cornering light and for bravo t-jet sport have grey speed-dial instead of white-ish. so i think they upgraded all the car line-up to 5-blinks at the same period.

my Evo 5-blinks, i much prefer 5 to the 08 Astra's 2-3 blink, seems to be over by time your hand leaves the stalk, 5 gives ya abit of thinking & checking time.

That turn off cornering light feature predates 2009- it was included in 2008 models certainly. Think the grey dials are the same. The 5 blinks is new but useful as 3 is often not enough.

Indicators still better than Vauxhall/Opels efforts!

3 blink indicators are worse than useless because they don't flash long enough. If you start in lane 1 (for example) and start the flashing then by the time you start moving it's stopped. In which case are you still changing lane or have you changed your mind and are staying where you are?

Using indicators is such a poorly practiced discipline that most drivers would be better not bothering in the first place and the 3 blink indicator doesn't make it any better.

5 might be worth while. But better still; why not just turn the buggers on, and then off again.
