I have a fiat punto x reg 1.2 8 v, my warning light for my power steering came on the other day and then i left my car off for a while and it went off.

This happened again last night and i turned my car off for literally a minute then it went off again.

I do not use the city button but it may have been used in the past as I havent had the car that long.

Any ideas to what is wrong?

P/S motor is on the way out by the sounds of it, or some component linked to it.

One person recently had the electronics board off his steering column and found some dry solder joints. Resoldering them solved the problem. A Punto forum search should find the thread.

Mine recently had the light come on when I bounced the car on some rough road. It re-set when I stopped the car and turned off the ignition, suggesting mine also has some dodgy connections.

Last week on rough roads the light came on.
Took the motor apart and found a dry joint, resoldered and all ok
