You do realise I've owned fiats and been part of this forum for the last 4 years yes? lol

I've come to the conclusion that you are a ****.

I think the general public would more likely buy a genuinely fast Fiat, than an Alfa Romeo. Alfa STILL dont have a good rep for reliability despite the incredibly sexy looks of the 159 and the Brera.

I'd buy a "hot" Bravo over a "Hot" Mito or 159.

I must admit I agree. Although I think they reserve that corner of the market for the Alfa range. Although even they seem to be getting lardy and slow (n) :bang:.

I can remember back in 2006 when I was looking at the Grande thinking "where's the powerful Petrol engine". So was stuck with a dirty derv :bang:.

Do what I've done and get a frugal "daily" car and get something bonkers for the weekend like a Coupe 20VT / Uno Turbo :slayer:. You'd struggle to get anything as fast for the £'s.....

I can only dream of owning a 20VT. Am I right in saying its the acceleration experienced AFTER the national speedlimit which puts distance between it, and Focus ST's etc.

If what I've read is correct Astra VXR 0-100 17's... Coupe 20VT 14's???

Fiats are as fast as required imo, they have enough juice to take on most of the general public.

It's always nice to have a Focus ST for example, but as said earlier when buying my car i looked at tax / insurance / fuel costs and you save a fortune with a fiat.

Besides, if I wanted to go quickly id buy a motorbike... would smoke any of the above with ease for half the price & half the costs, yeah maybe a little closer to death but if your after some fun why go half way... and the only person you'll be killing is yourself. (well, in most cases.)

That's the way i see it, id love a motorbike though... hmm, maybe. (y)

You have to remember that Fiat is a group. They own Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia. Fiat makes cars for the the average Joe. If you want fast cars get an Alfa Romeo.

Fiat hasnt made a hot hatch since the coupe, and that wasnt even a hatch

Why dont they have anything that matches the 0-60 times of the below cars?

Civic Type R
Clio 197
Corsa VXR
Focus ST
Astra VXR
Megane Renaultsport 225
Mazda 3 MPS
Mazda 6 MPS
Golf GTI / R32

The way it stands:

Fastest Bravo - 0-60 7.9s
Fastest Punto - 0-60 7.5s
Fastest 500 - 0-60 7.5s
Fastest Panda - 0-60 9.5s

All much slower than any competition.

Much slower? Standing start 0-60 perhaps to a few tenths of a second, but how about in gear - for example coming out of a hairpin in 2nd gear and ripping up-hill to the next bend?

Driving is about much more than 0-60 - going around corners quick is much, much more fun.

I don't think Fiat's are built to smoke the other cars at the lights. They have to move slowly for the on-lookers to take in the beauty and panache of these Italian beauties, designed by the world's finest car designers.

A Honda or a Toyota is not as graceful as a Fiat in motion. Hence they are fitted with a more powerful engine so that they are not stationary for long.

:D

I've got a doblo 1.9jtd and if I spin up revs I can watch most chavmobiles in my rear view. In fact, when I'm in the mood, I like to get half a car's lead, take it to the speed limit then ease off the gas, holding it at the speed limit - no need to do any more as It's proved itself, letting the muppets carry on beyond the speed limit.
Only downside of doing that is that my mpg drops considerably - so I tend only to do it if the muppet next to me is itching for a burn up (although sometimes I will edge forward as though consenting to a burn up but then sedately draw away from the line letting them thrash their motors.

Just to add, I recently had the chance to floor it on a local track. The satnav said 98mph, speedo said 116mph
