Hi,

I applied for finance today for a Fiat Panda will find the outcome tomorrow.

I have some questions that i forgot to ask the Wessex Garage dealer, if i am accepted i will get them to confirm tomorrow but curious at the moment.

1) Does the first service for the Fiat Panda come included when you buy a brand new car? can't remember the sales person telling me althou i think they said that above.

2) How much are services from Fiat and how many miles for each service do they recommend?

3) I went for the Dymnamic Eco 1.2. Any tips things i should look out for or beware of etc? looking forward to possible being a owner of one so excited to here all your tips and any info you have.

They offered me that protection stuff something like scotch gaurd they said, is it worth it etc? I was told a steam cleaner works as good, i got a good dry clean steamer so would rather save the money than pay out extra if it not much point in having it.

I also choose the Mambo Yellow as i liked it as not only it was no cost but it complemented the black on the car. Does anyone have this color and perhaps a pic of it in mambo yellow to get a feel of how it looks, i know i can view it on the fiat.co.uk site in that color but wanted to see a real pic in that color if anyone has one.

Thanks,
Mathew

Hi Mathew,

Welcome the mad house :D

Make sure you nail the dealer for a boot light and a locking fuel cap as well as the customary mats (y)

I would suggest you try to order the full sized spare if they still do it (y)

The service interval is roundabout 12,000 miles / year, whichever comes first.

I cannot comment on the first service, I got mine after 3 years.

Hi,

I managed to get the mats free and the sales person said they may give me the boot liner which i want and the mud flaps, she said she will see what she can do althou i will definately be getting the mats for free, she said it is down to her own descresion so tomorrow i will nag her to death BEFORE signing the agreement if i get accepted.

Boot Light and locking fuel cap?

Does that mean there is no light in the boot and no lock to lock the petrol cap so in simple terms someone can steal my petrol?

Thanks for the warm welcome much appreciated. Maybe someone else can comment on the service question in first post.

Thanks,
Mathew

Most of them come without the light and cap.

I'll be honest the light can be described in 1 candle power :bang: and we are not talking of a huge boot but it does help (it's a 5 min job to fit).

If you can't get the locking fuel cap you can get them from fleabay, that's where mine came from.

I would make sure you have the power outlet (not sure if the dynamic has one as standard although the configurator appears to say so) so it's worth considering.

I envy you in that you have A/C

Hi,

I was told it has a power outlet thingy to connect my tomtom as i thought i may had to add the smoker pack to get it but the sales person said it comes with that power outlet so i can connect tomtom.

Yes they said aircon was included by standard :)

Thanks

Well i only do city driving and with reviews saying the seats are higher and the view all around the car is excellent etc made me decide on it, plus i like it's design and style, some may not agree but its down to taste and i love it.

I do about 3 trips a year up country 150 miles each way so total return trip is 300 miles, i felt the 1.2 Dynamic Eco would be fine for this, other than that it's just city driving and travelling 30 miles mainly dual carriage ways to my mums. I feel the version i choose is the rite one for me.

Funny thing is i not even test drove it lol, i will ask tomorrow for a test drive but i know i will be happy with it.

The MPG seems good from the information from Fiat, althou i never take the MPG from Manufacturer seriously as you said engine needs breaking in to see the benefits of MPG.

Thanks for all the help much appreciated. :)

If anyone could answer my service question that be great, will ask tomorrow thou but thought i would ask here to.

Regards,
Mathew

I found on this forum the manual for the Fiat Panda.

Does the version i am having have Trip Computer multifunctional display?

The more i am reading through the manual the more excited i am getting lol, first brand new car so obviously excited.

But what does it mean exactly and do i have that on the Dynamic 1.2 Eco (trip computer multifunctional display).

Thanks
Mathew

Mathew,

If it's like my dynamic (2005 model) you will get the rev counter, trip meter, average and current mpg, range on tank, clock.

you will also get the fancy 'follow me' headlamps that show can light for 30 seconds to a couple for minutes for taking the shopping to the front door :D, and the snazzy rear wiper that comes on if the wipers are on and you select reverse :D

Thanks for the reply.

Its so exciting, i am like a kid with a new toy, i like elctrical gadgety things as it seems so cool.

Sorry for all these questions hope you dont mind answering them.

I guess it has manual Climate control as i did not choose the automatic climate control as it was quite expensive. Do you know if i will still have the two little electric displays?

To my understanding it means i can manually select the temperature the car should be at i think and it will show on a little digital display?

I also cannot see the a/c button either where it located on dash board lol.

Thanks
Mathew

I cannot help you on that one,

I've got the no AC model

Seems some people have been quoted high on there servicing costs.

Am i right in saying that by law you can now how you car serviced at any service place and car companies cannot force you into having your car serviced with them?

If so what Conditions do Fiat require to keep your warranty valid?

I mean does the service place need to be Fiat Approved ? VAT Registered etc?

I know hyundai states that the service place must be Hyundai Approved and vat registered with VAT receipt, want to know as if i was quoted expensive i would rather go to a main large dealer by me that has very good prices for full services and is highly recommended by others, infact everytime i go there and pass by there is always a sports car in the station, seem some porches there to :)

My only gripe with Fiat today was i had to pay a £750 deposit before i know if i am accepted or not. I paid and made sure it is 100% refundable if i was declined or not happy with the quote i am given. I paid it but thought not only it was over the top £750 but strange why it has to be paid before even being accepted for finance. Anyone else have to do this? i was told it was normal procedure.

Thanks
Mathew

Hi,

Just heard back from Fiat after 2 days waiting due to some system problems etc that the fiat declined my application but black horse accepted.

But i am declining as i feel i am beinr ripped off.

My original quote was approx £164 pcm with alloys, 50/50 split seat and front fog lights over 4 years with £2605 scrappage.

Then when at the garage i rathered the trim on the steel wheels and thougtt fog lights was a waste of money and did not interest me so my new quote was £150 approx per month which included the side strips and 50/50 split seats over 4 years with £2605 car scrappage.

They phoned me and said Blackhorse accepted me but blackhorse insist i must have it over 5 years at £170 pcm plus they insisted i must have GAP insurance, yet originally i could have had the alloys, front fog lights over less time (4 years) for only £160. I felt as i was being forced into something that was not suitable for me. Basically i am having less yet paying more and an extra year added on the finance.

I had to pay a £750 deposit before my application was accepted but i said if i am not happy with finance quote offered or it was declined would i get full deposit back and they said yes, they also put subject to finance quote on receipt. I found it somewhat strange why i had to pay £750 deposit before i was even accepted for finance.

So tomorrow i will phone and decline the offer and have my £750 deposit back.

I decided to go for a 2006 Fiat Panda only done 21000 miles, full service history, 1 owner from new and much much cheaper pcm plus a 3 year warranty and only over 3 years for finance. It a 1.1 Active i know the brand new one was 1.2 Dynamic and obviously brand new etc and tax is only £35 compared to the 2006 one and so on it works out the extra i am being charged by finance company would cover the tax which is £120 on the 2006 one.

So can anyone tell me if there is anything i should look out for on a 2006 Fiat Panda, any common problems etc? are the 2006 ones known to allot of problems etc? i feel somewhat dissapointed about not having a brand new one but feel i am just being robbed and forced by the finance company to take something out that i do not want. As i am only 22 and althou had credit cards etc and good credit history i thought after 3 years i can go for a new one plus i will then be 25 so finance companies will likely give me better rate, give me what i want for example over 3 years and gauranteed acceptance first time around.

Thanks
Mathew

Hi Mathew,

I would warn you about the rear door handle, but with an Active that is not an issue.

Can you not stretch to a 1.2 dynamic - you will notice the bit more umph :D

Obviously you would need to do the usual checks, as I said previously try to get mats, boot light and locking cap (y)

Welcome to cheap motoring (y)

Hi,

As it second hand would i get the boot light etc? i mean the garage i am buying from is a small independent garage and just sells all sorts of makes and models and being second hand didn't think i could really haggle if not i can buy anyway.

I have had a look for a 1.2 in my area withing 60 mile radius but all i found was 1.1 Active. I live in Cardiff and budget is £3500 for second hand.

Be honest i am gutted but being told i must have it over 5 years and having less stuff on the car and costing more and extra year finance i felt i was being forced into something that was not suitable.

I not seen the second hand car only 9 pictures but when i go and sign papers etc i will obviouosly test drive it and inspect it plus get a vehicle check done online i found a good one for only £3.95 and is obviously well worth the money and tells me everything i need to know about the car and previous history etc.

Only if i could find a 1.2 dynamic version within 60 miles from me on at least a 2006 plate i would be even more happy and low mileage of course and service history, just can't find any only found two and both was 1.1 active on 2006 plate.

I just hope i get my large £750 deposit back tomorrow, althou they said i would get it when i stated Monday i want it back if i am not happy with quote but some just expect you to accept, i did say dependant on quote etc so fingers crossed, if not there will be war.

Thanks,
Mathew

Hi Mathew,

This is the original thread for the boot light - https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/65366-i-lit-up-old-boot-im-not-referring-mrs.html

The light can be brought from any fiat delaer, or you can ask our pet Fiat Parts dealer - https://www.fiatforum.com/members/chris-souls

Good luck with your hunt.

Hi,

Just to let you know i found a Fiat Panda 2008 reg 1.2 Dynamic. Finance etc went through picking it up tomorrow.

So excited can't way, the car is like brand new and smells like it to. The garage i bought it from was super i cannot complain about there service or anything.

So i am now officially a Fiat Panda Owner.

It has the Fiat warranty on it still until July 2011 and it has already been serviced twice and the garage is doing a filter and oil change free tomorrow before i pick it up keep my Fiat warranty valid. Only done 20,000 miles which is average 10,000 per year. It also had the genuine fiat mats in so that was a bonus, just want to buy the mud flaps and bootliner now.

The car is stunningly awesome. :)

So thanks UDTrev for recommending the 1.2 dynamic as i managed to find one afterall and and super happy, so all the best and thanks.

Thanks,
Mathew
