I have just got my first car and its a 124 Sport 1800 and its a graet looking car. I am trying to set the timing.
I have a block mounted distrib.
If I rotate the dist. clockwise will that retard or advance the engine timing?
My dad says it will retard it? Is he right as he is not a mechanic?

Check the way the dizzy cam moves.

Moving the cap the same way will retard, moving the opposite way will advance. Simples.
