My 2002 Doblo has been unused for some months now as I bought a replacement vehicle. There is a fault with the wipers, probably a faulty column switch. The clutch release bearing is also noisy. I've now found the battery won't take a charge. It was charged up at the end of October and the battery is less than a year old but I don't have the receipt to take it back. I should get the car fixed and MoTd so I can sell it but I'm wondering if it would be worth more as spare parts? I wondered if anyone on here has tried this method to dispose of a car and can offer any advice?

IMO you need to ask yourself the question if it's worth the financial risk to repair?, will you get a return on the investment you will have made in fixing it taking account issues and the age of the vehicle? It may be more preferable to ebay as spares or repairs keeping a reserve price on how much you actually want for it? Unless of course you know where you can source cheap parts to fix it in which case it may be worth fixing. You could sell it for spares, but then you'll have to wait for the car to be stripped of anything worthwile before you send it to the scrappers. So it really depends on how you want to play it and how quickly you want to shift it. Hope this helps (y)

Generally, a car that age will be worth more as parts than sold as a non-runner. BUT (and it's a big, big, but) breaking a car and selling the bits takes a lot of time and effort.

There's faf all wrong with your car -- if you can find the parts s/h you can fix the wipers for £20 or so. A battery might cost you £60 or so. A new clutch kit maybe £50.

I'd be inclined to fix.

I'd say fix it and sell it as a running car..It actually has very few and cheap to fix problems and it's not THAT old!As fingers69 said, it'll probably cost you about 200 to repair, but braking the car seems like a lot of trouble and effort to me.Plus that it's gonna take some time until you sell all of the parts-if you do so- and take the whole amount of money..Finally, selling it as a non-working one would take of a great percent of it's true value (I believe)
