FREE to try Fiat diagnostic software

FREE to try Fiat diagnostic software

New to all this.

Have Ducato that has had an intermittent problem for last two years (same fault each time). Main dealers cannot find it. The latest dealer (in Spain) says fault codes are not stored in ECU after the "Check Engine" warning and "Injection System Failure" light extinguish. (Is the really true? - Should they not be stored as "Intermittent" Errors in the ECU and then be visible with EXAMINER - forever or until the fault memory is cleared?)

So need to connect my laptop (Win7) and see for myself what the ECU says when the problem occurs. (Van might go 1000+km over several days with no faults, then it can occur a number of times over several days or weeks, before running perfectly OK again.)

Its a motorhome on a 2007 Ducato 130 Mulitjet chassis with K line diagnostic on the ECU (pin 25 on vehicle harness socket).

What cable do I need (the one listed early in thread is no longer available)? Where do I plug it in? (Is there socket somehwere under the dash?)

Where so I get the software? (The URLs for that and the instructions no longer work.)

Thanks - in desperation.

Hi,
here;
http://www.multiecuscan.net/Default.aspx

should answer MOST of your questions,

the Ducato section will add to other queries you may have ;-)

Charlie

Thanks. I have sent an e-mail to their sales dept to check what I need to buy.

Can you tell me please where I should post my Question about the Ducato and in particular how long (intermittent) fault codes are stored in the ECU and kept available for the Fiat EXAMINER system to get at them in the Dealer Workshop?

Thanks

multiecuscan.net is the website you need to visit.

You will find a Forum link at the top/head of the page.

There you will also find a "Supported Vehicles" page where you can check the level of support for your vehicle.

Regarding ECU fault codes. They are generally kept until the "clear fault codes" / "turn EML off" procedure is carried out.

Some ECUs will turn off / reset the EML if after the fault occurring event the fault/event is no longer present.

The no longer present criteria varies from car to car/make to make but generally you are looking at:

o 10 or more successful fault free drive cycles
o x hundred miles fault free with only 1 or 2 drive cycles
o some other criteria defined by the manufacturer

Generally speaking car ECUs log faults and keep history until either a diagnostic system is connected and the ECU read OR till the ECU is happy there is no fault present long term.

It is not realistic for a vehicle ECU to keep a long term history of every event/fault that has occurred. Remember the ECU has a complex job to do, limited on-board memory and as such is designed to be monitored and attended to by suitably equipped service agents, etc.

Hi guys,
you can check this FREE program for reading ecu errors, reading data, actuator tests, etc.
http://fiatecuscan.net/
It supports Stilo JTD engines and Stilo ABS.
The latest version is version 5!! I couldn’t get the old free version to work properly!! Kept coming up with errors during the initial scan!!
