OK

This has happend twice in recent weekd our lass called the AA out last time. I was driving yesterday enging got +99c and brakes locked on (almost) engine overheating may be as aresult of effort needeed to push car but am confused. Cleaned calipers and put back together first time so know thats ok. I changed the brake fluid last night in the hope it was boiling and expanding etc..

Anyone got any Ideas ???;)

The engine getting hot and overheating may be due to the extra effort needed to push the car.
There is no way the brakes lock-on when the engine overheats, unless like you said the brake fluid was boiling and expanding.
What cc engine is it, The FIRE engines do run hot as normal but your fan should cut in around 100
Both or one of your calipers may be seized or have you checked this??
Also if you have a sporting, check your pipe from the brake servo unit to the inlet manifold, my old nova trackcar had a split in this causing the brakes to slowly come on whilst driving, maybe a longshot!

I have considerably more mods, THAN YOU!

Spot on Matt, I'd check that the calipers are sliding as they are supposed to. Repair kits are available, ...usually.

Hello Eric.
I am not fully familiar with the Cinc sporting but I think I know the cause of your problem.

Locate the brake light switch above the brake pedal and take with you a spanner to fit the lock nut. Go for a drive, when or if the brakes lock on, pull off the two leads, slack the lock nut and back off the switch by a full turn. Be on the flat when you do this because the brakes may release at this point.

If this works, then your problem was the switch screwed in too far. This is a common one with Pandas and Unos.

Pinch up the lock nut (remember it is only plastic) and put back the two leads, it does not matter which terminals the leads go back onto.

Please let us know if I am right.

Thanks for that

Things have moved on a little in that I managed to get hold of a complete Master cylinder + regulators for a small sum and have changed over the original for the new one. I will have a look at the
pedal box tonight though and if it happens again I will adjust it anyway. Cheers Eric
