Thanks for the info on this.

So why do they want to replace the Panda 2 if it's still selling strongly? the original soldiered on for how long, over 20 years? Fiat's been on to something with this car for a good long while. All it really neads is a more powerful diesel, say the new 95HP 1.3, to sustain it for a while longer. and a larger fuel tank wouldn't hurt, either. I go close to 60000 Km per year and a 35 liter tank would have to refilled too often for my tastes.

that 600,00 would be comprised of the panda, ka, 500 and 600, in varying proportions,

i would imagine styling will have a major part of the update, it's a sad fact the "if it aint broke" theory is pretty much defunct these days.

it's also pretty certain the new multiair heads will not appear until the new panda is out,

Panda has to be kept up to date.
i10 is class leader at the moment (although it isn't as nice a car)
Picanto replacement is on it's way.
Aygo and it's clones are due for major facelift next year.
Dacia to a certain extent steals sales too.
Agila is stealing some sales as does the Pixo/Alto
Even twingo too.
A compelling reason has to be given to customers to choose the Panda over competitors.

A cheap facelift while keeping the same basic chassis is needed.
At this stage a lot of the tooling for the Panda production line would be wearing out too.

Only thing certain is change.
