wondering if any one can help me out there , my wife has a 2000 w reg fiat punto 1.2 hlx. Now my wife is a propper blonde and dosn't really tell me when somethings up with her car. A while back we had to fit a new timing belt and tensioner as her tensioner had shot . but since then her car seems to be misfireing on piston 1. now at the time of the timing belt change she had new plugs and new leads. what ive found is that the car runs sweet but after a while it starts juddering . when ive looked at the spark plugs number 1 is really ****ty got all oil deposits round it. if i clean it and replace it its fine for a while then starts juddering again and the plugs ****ty again .. now i changed the plugs round to see that it wasnt the plug or the lead but that made no diffrence ... what i have noticed now though is when she first starts the car that shes getting thick white smoke coming from the back and after about 10 mins or when the car reaches temp its clear .... any ideas this car is driving me nuts she replaces it soon with a ford focus and its going to the inlaws ....LOL would really appriciate some ideas thanks guys steve

my old punto done this, i believe it was a worn piston/piston ring/bore

does it burn oil?

Yeah it does seem to burn a quite a bit of oil but has done this since the day she had the car.... when she first pulls off its not like a huge cloud of smoke that lingers it judt seems really thick smoke.... shes not getting clouds of smoke when i follow her ???? another thing she has is the emmisions warning light on her dash is on ... but again this has been on a while
