I went up again to Nottingham last night...what a night :D ! That is until the police came up and gave us an experience of English justice [:(!] ! To anyone who hasnt been to Nottingham, everyone parks at the side of the strip, watching the cars at the traffic lights. Everyone is out the way, the cars that race dont come near to the cars that are parked, people that watch stay out the way too. The police, apparantly, said that it was getting too full to have people driving round all night...why the feck do they think that people have to stay on the strip all night...they closed down Macro car park where everyone went before! Once they had shifted all the parked cars onto the main strip they then closed down the road so that instead of three lanes there was two lanes...this caused everyone to be sat for ages trying to get off the strip and to look for a different place to go. How can the police justify acting in this way? Everyone was having a good night, no-one was doing anything illegal! Even that new law, section 29 or something, says that cars that are causing a 'nuisance' to residents can be impounded after a warning but is being parked at the side of the road being a nuisance? is it feck! Are the majority of people that cruise in Nottingham residents? I think so! Causing a large car parks worth of cars onto the road is being a nuisance and then having the cheek to close down one of the lanes just takes the ****. The police are determined to close down the cruising scene for good, it'll not be long until England has the tight modifing laws of somewhere like belgium where it is strictly illegal to mod your car in certain ways.

Rant over...I feel much better :)

Can someone please tell me what exactly you mean by "strip" ?

I've lived in Nottingham for nearly 30 years and haven't a clue what you're talking about!!

I know what you mean our local Cruise/carpark that we meet up in every Sunday night has now had barriers fitted so we can't get in!
Does'nt make sense it'll just put more people on the roads!?!

Well, that was a great help :(

This may sound somewhat naïve to you, but as far as I'm aware, I've never "cruised" in my life. Perhaps I've led a sheltered life, or maybe it's the fact that I'm almost old enough to be a grandfather to some of you, but I really haven't the slightest clue as to what you're talking about :(

Maybe I really am too old for this s**t!

Steve,

I've only ever been to one. Have you seen the TV advert for microwave burgers (0 to done in 60 seconds)? Its a bit like that, lol

I'm getting old too. I'm the sort who'll turn up and go when the police turn up [8D]

Been to one what? Just where is this "strip"? I'm feeling just a little bit left out of the whole thing and would really like to know ...

I'm getting to old now more into Drifting :D
Anyway cruising is basically where you park up in a massive carpark where you can admire and drool over hundreds of cars that come from all around.
They may be burnouts, t1ts and burgers there as well which are always a bonus.

Its the nobs who turn up in nicked cars and/or race about at stupid speeds endagering the lives of innocent people, who mess it up.

do correct me if im wrong but my understanding of the "strip" in nottingham is the road around broadmarsh - or is that the circuit?!?! - couldnt be sure but sure enough the nottm police are getting tight on it now - makro has been closed off which means on sunday nights then venue has moved

Yeah round the Broadmarsh and Oceans is the 'Strip' or 'Circuit' whatever you want to call it.
I was there on Sunday ready to show off my new mods (pics soon!) but didn't even get a chance to park up.
Before I knew it the police had arrived, closed off 3 lanes of 4 and were pulling cars over into the bus stop to do spot checks :(
Apparently since Makro closed people have been going to Ladybay retail park, but thats been shut down now too.
New location needed!

Is that Ladybay car park you talk of a carpet place? Thats where Ive heard everyone goes now. Me and my mates tried asking a few people but no-one was local that we wre talking to and wasnt sure either.

Pray to the God of Abarth - I hope your speed over your rivals and anyone else at the traffic lights

Pics soon......when i get some film in my camera!
I've been busy, 5 modifications over a week:D

Yeah Ladybay Retail Park, it's out of the centre past Hooters.
Apparently theres a Burger King there, but this too got shut down on Sunday. Loads of Police there too.

We do have Sainsbury's car park in Arnold. I've never noticed them before this discussion, but there are a few cars parked in a line in the far corner well away from anyone else. Now I know why. There's a McDonald's there too if you like to live dangerously!

ive been deliberating as to whether i can buy an area to be used (and abused) in nottingham near the m1 - sort of a smallish santa pod and cheaper - im sure it could be a worthwhile investment and al that and i am contacting the council to see what sort of places it can be done(away from residential) so ill see how that goes - alomost like in fast and furios 1 with a large organised race etc and chagre on entry
will keep you posted on how that goes!
