Re: FIATs we want in the UK we dont get??

I see enough Palio's here from Poland.

Fiat already have 500, Panda,GP. No need for a budget version. The Linea, despite being a 'world car' is very similar size to the Marea, and isn't such a cheap car.

Too late 80s - 90s-ish looking for the UK, but that's just my opinion.

Well it is mainly a reconstituted uno as designed in the early 80s

According to Wikipedia (
Fiat_Croma Fiat_Croma
);

Quote Quote:
In February 2007, Fiat UK announced that the Croma would no longer be generally available in the UK, after less than 900 were sold in the whole of 2005. The car will still be offered by special order only, with right-hand drive models manufactured to customer specifications.
So it might still be possible to get the new-style Croma in the UK.

I'd have to check, but I'm pretty sure you can't order a RHD facelift New Croma.

Originals are LHD yes - but they're Genuine UK cars - not imports. Just like all Barchetta are LHD. Some Deltas have been converted to RHD. Some conversions are better than others.

Re: FIATs we want in the UK we don't get??

That is an EVO 1 can tell by rain gutters (thinner on EVO 1 thicker and more sculptured on EVO2) and fuel filler cap (plastic EVO1 alloy EVO2) And it has very nice Speedline magnesium wheels on it which are very expensive, same style & manufacturer as original 15" EVO and 16" EVO2 wheels.

Compomoitive make the TH2 which is very similar though alloy and cheaper/heavier.

As correctly pointed out you could buy integrale's new, 8V, 16V, EVO1, & EVO2 in the UK, all they had was a sticker over the speedo to read in MPH rather than KMH in LHD from Lancia dealers.

There were a few converted to RHD by Mike Spence and John Whalley, these used teh RHD dash board from the normal Delta and steering rack from a Fiat Regata, this was an expensive conversion new, and now those cars are worth less than there LHD counterparts due to removing one of the best things about integrale's the steering, the Regatas rack is not that great loosing feedback and feel and increasing turns lock to lock.

I've never understood why folk fear LHD, it takes no more than 30mins to be comfortable with it, I easily jump from LHD to RHD without a thought, and whats nice having RHD Jap cars is they are designed as RHD cars so indicators are on correct side of steering wheel, and no nasty linkages on clutch or brake peddles that many European cars which are designed as LHD and converted can suffer. the BIGI Clubman with its 3rd door on wrong side and Clios with wipers that wipe wrong way show this very clearly. It makes so much sense having LHD cars with indicators on left, and RHD with it on right.

Of course all cars used to be like this until they started making cost costing and just lifting LHD steering columns and sticking them in RHD cars.

One thing the drop in pound has had on values of integrales and of E30 M3's is as they were only ever made LHD and the Euro being strong most of these cars are being snapped up bu Euro buyers who now see UK as cheap place to buy these coveted cars, making demand outstrip supply pushing up prices.

Good points J
Whats the insurance like, I assumed it would be high with it being left hand drive. Insurance and overtaking where my two worries.
