Im driving a fiat Seicento S 1.1 and my mate is constently bad mouthing my car and it is getting very irritating.Hes doin a mechanics course so he knows and meets people with a lot more knowledge of cars then me. Hes Driving a Corsa merit 1.2 built in 1995 or 1996. My fiat was built in 2001. Hes always going on about it and bad mouthing it in front of everyone so hes not much of m8 to be honest.

So I thought I would come to you guys, I know this may seem increadibly trivial and stupid to you guys but ive backed a horse that I dont know how to defend. Whats superior to my car over his?

His car is older, and a Vauxhall, so he is jealous. Don't take any notice, just remind him that GM uses lots of Fiat engines, and Fiat has some great new engine technology coming very soon (this year), and GM is practically bankrupt because it builds dreary cars without any true personality. And then mention that GM paid Fiat a fortune a few years ago to escape a business arrangement which benefited Fiat far more than GM - in fact Fiat pretty well stuffed them. He's an odd mate by the way.

Thanks alot but what is GM sorry :(. An I will mention that to him thanks a bunch but is there anything else I can like out right brag about I mean I know ive got power steering and appearantly my engine is a fire engine one of the first cars made by fiat to be completely assembled by machines so no human error (well thats according to wikipedia) but is there anything else like that I can mention?

GM is General Motors, the American company which bought Vauxhall in the 1920s and is now teetering on the edge of bankruptcy.

Just don't get into an argument with your friend. Do you enjoy driving your car? Do you like the ability to park anywhere? Do you like the economy? Is it fun? If so, just enjoy it and don't worry.

I thought the old Ritmo (don't ask) was the first Fiat to be built entirely by machines. But never mind. You might also tell him that Fiat makes the robots that build the cars, and GM buys these from Fiat, as do a lot of other manufacturers. And Fiat builds planes, trains, heart valves, heavy machinery, and lots more besides. Fiat has been going since 1899, and GM? But don't play his game. Just tell him you love your little car.

Other people will doubtless explain in detail why your Seicento is so cute. Try posting on the Seicento thread too.

fiat own ferrari? lol didnt expect that. So what would that entail? like better engines in fiat cars over vauxhalls because of that or any thing else like that. I have to admit I came on here trying to find some 1 ups on my m8 but this is quite interesting.

ferrari dont do much/nothing at all for fiat reg. the cars and all fiat do is provide a sticker for the ferrari f1 car front, i think you have enough ammo for the minute

They use the same dial firm Veglia!

Also the old corsa 1.2 is a horrible nail of a car with less power than a 1.1 cinq his car had 44bhp new....yours had 54bhp new and it weighs less.

What isn't good about a Fiat!! :D i won't moan about Vauxhalls because my brother has a Cavalier. Which i borrow it every now and then, an isn't a bad car at all :)
Although my brother did used to have a 1993 K reg Corsa 1.2 LS bit like your friends, and im sorry to say it but we both thought it was ****e (n)
Ive had lots of stick for having a Fiat from some snooty people, my 1st car was a G reg Fiat Panda 750L when i was 18.
I used to get all the jokes etc from some mates and work collegues, but i didn't let it get to me because it was my car and i loved it!
If your happy with your little Seicento, then who cares what your mate thinks. I bet he's never even been in a Fiat to appreciate there good point's! ive got a Mk1 Punto Sporting now an wouldn't change it for the world!

If his cambelt snaps - his car is scrap.

If your cambelt snaps - you are faced with a £15 bill for a new cambelt.

Hi,why dont u ring him up and ask him for his advice??,tell him you need mechanical help...tell him theres strange noise from under the bonnet...but it only happens at 12000 revs, start the engine open the bonnet, and just say is that an oil leak down there?? (point low down in the engine bay) wait till hes under the bonnet ...the drop it!!! repeat as oftern as you like and you will cure you friends problem!!!

just kidding rise above i mate,he sounds a rite plonker

we on the forum shall all pray now :worship:

im doin mechanics at college and i get nothing but abuse for owning my little cinqs
but in reality its got to be one of the best first cars you can own
a moderate amount of power for a first car and not alot a weight
they also handle well aparently
havnt passed my test yet :(
where as the corsas are slow and rust like anything :D
i get the same problem off a friend that owns a 2001 polo 1.0 and i just ask him how his 50bhp is in his heavy underpowered car
i think alot of mechanics dont like them as alot of small things break on them but its always something small and never expensive to fix :D

me and my mates always have a bit of banter, i have a 2001 punto, he has a 2002 polo

i paid £1600, he paid £3,000

he's spent over £1,000 on repairs and now his CAT could be nackerd!

I used to have a corsa (chain driven) the chain went lose on me and i was quoted £400 from a small garage, £500 from vauxhalls and 3 garages wouldnt touch it!
