Hi,

I have a 2001 Fiat Scudo van which i use for work. But my engine has given up. What cars have the same engine, or alternatively what engines will fit into the van. Am looking to pick-up a car which i can see and hear running for a descent price and then just transplant the engine straight into my van. would appreciate any help to identify which cars to look for

Cheers

Those vans are made in cooperation with PSA, so Peugeot and Citroen cars and vans will be your sources. The 2.0 diesel engines are PSA so don't waste time looking for them in Fiat Group cars.

Understand this engine came in a number of different power ratings over the years and was used in cars ans vans alike. You may get a nice performance upgrade if you get a car engine from one of the better models.

If you could make it work, a good 2.2 HDi from a late 406 would be great, they can tow a house, or more precisely a very heavy old 5 series BMW and a twin axle trailer with ease at 70mph. Loads of power and economy. I believe its just a bigger version of the other HDi/JTd motors.

I'm pretty certain that 2.2 HDi lump was fitted to the Lancia Phedra, the luxi Italian version of the 806/Ullysee/Scudo so the parts should be around to make it fit.

It also goes in the smaller Ducato, which I think is rated at 2.8 tonnes
