Hi everyone, I have had to change the engine in my Fiat diesel multijet after the last one when bang, all was going well, engine changed etc etc and started first time, only problem i have is that i will not rev past 3000 RPM, it seems to bounce on the rev counter as if it is hitting some sort of limiter, what i dont know is if it is down to the Turbo, a sensor, a difference in the engine in some way, any ideas where to start,

quickest way to tell which one is to hook it up to diagnostics if you have acess or can get to your local garage. It sounds like possible MAF issue to me. Have you tried running it with the MAF disconnected?

Sorry to be a bit dull, but what is MAF, best guess i can come up with is manifold air flow, !!!

Many thanks to those who replied, i disconected the MAS sensor, sprayed it with WD40, put it back on and the little devil revs like hell now, "sorry for the Pun" amazing how simple things can be to put right, and there was me thinking how i could get it to a Fiat dealer, "nearest one being about 30miles away"
believe me after taking the old engine out myself and stripping it of all the bits, putting the replacement one in, connecting everything back up, only to find the above problem, i was gutted, now all ready to go again, certainly been an experience, one, I am not a mechanic, two, I have never worked on a diesel before, three, I have never worked on a front wheel drive and four,I probably saved a small fortune on getting a garage to do it, just need to get rid of the engine hoist and ramps i bought to do the job.
thanks again.
Steve

Thank you. I'll get the tools out tomorrow and check mine. £40 for a replacement isn't too bad if I can do it myself.
