Hi, im looking at the possibility of voluntarily terminating my HP agreement with FIAT finance.

My question is based on the fact that i have damage to the paintwork which would require respraying one panel on the car. The actual amount of affected paint work is less than a 10p coin in size but because its the primer thats showing i believe that a respray is required.

However my question is if i voluntarily terminate my HP i'm liable for any damages and can be charged. Does anyone know how FIAT finance work? Do they give you acceptable amounts of damage? Are they like to charge a lot for my case?

Cheers in advance
Greg

correct colour touch up stick is less than a fiver from your dealer. a 10p sized peice of damage is nothing to worry about and very easy to repair yourself.

as far as the hire purchase is concerned, the car must be in a "reasonable condition for age". what is reasonable? its hard to say, but i'm very confident that a touched up 10p sized area of paint damage wont be an issue.

dont forget to check that you have paid at least as much as it says you need to before you can hand back. it is usually 50% of the value. if you hand back early you'll still be allowed to do it but you'll have to pay the shortfall.

Cheers for reply.

Yes have paid just over 50% so am fine for doing that.

Lol you'd think it'd be easy with a touch up stick but it's not. I've bought the Fiat supplied touch up stick and had some mixed by halfords and elsewhere and none of them are even an acceptable match in colour. I'll get a picture of the area affected with the touch up pen covering. (for some reason i thought it might protect the paint work although looks odd cus its the wrong colour!)

Also yeh isn't it great how they can include ambiguous details into contracts. (I know its the same with everything tho. :p)

halfords paint is always a poor colour match, but the fiat supplied paint has always been perfect in my experience. it is the exact same paint so it should be perfect unless you have bought the wrong shade.

Well going on advice from the parts dept. man and the colour code plate in my car i think it was the right colour, (was bout year ago though lol). Just trying to get picture uploaded so can show what i mean bout it being different colour.

Ok heres a picture of the damage (n)

Yeh is terrible, have just checked again and the fiat supplied pen has same colour code as car
LOL

Anyways thanks for your opinion, I was thinking of getting hold of the side stripe kits that have just been bought out on new puntos but dunno if it's worth it?
