I am very annoyed.

Just looking at other cars as you do and have set me eyes on the New Mini's from BMW. To insure a Mini One '2003' with 1.6 16v lump and its cheaper than a Brand new Fiat Seicento Sport 1.1!!!

For myself, 21 years old, 3y no claims, 5k per year on millage, locked in garage in low crime area:

Mini: £552
Sei: £793

What a bloodly rip off!!! - how can they scam people like this!?

Vroom, Vroom!

[:(!][:(!] Guess its the death row for my Sei [V]

so seeing as you normally pay the insurance of your engine donor when you stick a new engine in you could theoretically put a 1.6 16v mini engine in the sei and save insurance! :)

SEI POWER
(or lack thereof)

That does seem unfeasible at first glance.

I suppose it's not a level playing field:
either the SEI has got itself a reputation for attracting boy-racers and crashing all over the place [:0] , which perhaps the Mini One hasn't, yet, due to the cost of the things.

Or shop around more on renewal: you might have just passed one of the thresholds with being 21 now, and good history.

I always been told it has something to do with the insurance groups trying to get spare parts to the cars - higher the to insurance as parts for Fiat are hard to get i wonder - like waiting 6 weeks for a alloy wheel to come though from them. Same goes for new cars from Fiat. My 2 cents.
