Right i know there has been numerous discussions on the stuff but it mostly seems in relation to diesel made from used veg oil and i have animal fat or as it's usually known as beef dripping. Can i use it to run an alfa 2.4jtd or my ulysse 04 1.9jtd? I own a chip shop and have about 40gallons of used oil each week that i want to do something with. Can i make diesel with it that i can run my cars on or perhaps my central heating? Any help would be appreciated. I hate seeing this oil go to waste weekly.

If you heat it right there is no need for methanol (which is hard to get hold of as it is)
with normal veg oil you can usualy mix 50/50 with normal dinojuice diesel without any trouble. (best to work up the veg oil untill you notice problems then back it off)

what I would do is fill a coke bottle with half diesel then put in a little beef dripping and see if it mixes. if it does then put a small amount in the tank for a trial.

just be sure its filtered well. good way I heard is to rig up a way to filter the oil thru kitchen roll

you can make biodiesel from beef tallow, but you must also use some veg oil with it. you can turn beef fat into beef tallow. so yes, you can turn beef fat into biodiesel.

the advantage of using beef tallow is a higher cetare rating compared to veg oil, so you get a cleaner and more efficient burn. unfortunately it also has a high cloud point so it isnt suitable for cold winter use unless it is blended at a low amount (5%) with diesel.

wtf you still cooking chips in lard for  i hope you put a warning in your window

my 1997 escort van runs on cookig oil.

i get my oil from indian sweet shops theyre bloody happy to get rid lol ended up with 160litres of the stuff last time i went.

i use 5gallon drums what i done is filter it through some fine metal guage first to remove big bits of crap.

then i use 8mm rubber oil/fuel tubing you get from car shops, a 12volt diesel lift pump (or you can use a manual winding one) dont buy one of them drill powered pumps there ****.

what i brought then was...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220261496029

it then goes....

barrel of kinda filtered oil===={filter}==={filter}====[Pump]=====Fuel Tank

i do a 50/50 mix of diesel and vegi oil works fine in my van

but cars can vary, and becarful that the oil is not megathick or else youll be up **** creek in the winter when it goes solid.

fuel lasts hell of alot longer then just straight diesel too

Because any good proper chip shop uses it for obvious reasons. Harry Ramsdons changed to veg oil at watched their bussiness collapse around them.

Here's an oldie...

I live around Yarmouth, and always thought the chippies around here made darned good chips. I've just been looking into making my own biodiesel, and now I know why the chips are so good. They ALL use beef dripping. But I do think they should tell their customers that. A lot of vegetarians would be a bit narked if they knew.

OP, did you have any luck with the dripping?

i used to know a guy in yarmouth who ran his corsa diesel on chip shop cooking oils, however this was a long time ago an these days you will be competing with people like Broadland Fuels who will pay a premium for old cooking oils and fats which they use to blend their own bio diesels.

my parents had a cafe in Acle and used to sell all their used cooking oil/fat to some local company and used to get quite a nice sum for it as well.
