Just had this story pointed out to me (better late than never) about the much rumoured 'sub-Panda' model on its way:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/222081/topolino-is-born-again.html

AutoExpress are perhaps getting a bit carried away christening it 'Topolino' but the technical details - if correct - look intriguing. From what I've read elsewhere, there's a good chance it will be marketed as a Zastava.

If this is cheap as chips it will wipe the floor of the small cars like the C1, Getz and Picanto. IMO they will bring it out, after the success of the Grande and 500 they need a low entry car

Looks like a replacement for the 600?

Agreed, I reckon it is. If the old Sei goes out of production that will liberate some much needed capacity at Tychy with these presumably being knocked-out at the Zastava plant.

I thought for a minute AutoExpress had just slipped a FIAT badge onto a Twingo but there do appear to be differences! I also thought they must have used the registration of a crashed Vectra or something but according to Autotrader, it is listed as an unknown make & model, in red with three doors, a six speed box and a petrol engine...

Always suspicious of Autoexpress predictions, I will be interested to see if it materialises.

I have seen reports in different French car magazines that the new Topolino will be in the same size range as the Smart For Two. It will probably be built on the new 500 platform. Expect to see a two cylinder air cooled petrol engine in it for starters.
