A friend at ATS is lowering my suspension today. Just putting new GMAX springs on 45mm rear and 40mm front.

Anybody got any tips on what I should look out for to make sure htey have been done properly?

and any question for me to ask him to make sure he has thought of everything?

Cheers guys.

My tip is just check your rear wheels dont scrub on the arches and check your bump stops.

I've got 40mm all round and tbh id have gone for lowering your front 45mm and your rear 40mm, but thats just me :)

ur right it does hold the road a lot better, handling and cornering are great.

i think that may also be to do with the new alloys i put on two days ago aswell.

but compared to a week ago it is a new car!

however, since alloys the breaks are now squeaking when i stop on a slope and when i drive over bumps i now here metal noises since lowering.
hmm...
we'll see how she goes for a few days.

do you know if the bum stops were trimmed? when my car was dropped, we cut the bumstops in half. I know alex didnt cut his and once the car had settled, it was sat on the bumstops making the ride awful

Always check for anything under the car when lowering it, such as a cat or even a neighbours tortoise as they will be squashed.

Glad to see your having so much fun in it ;). Yeah it sounds like your bumpstops are rubbing so you could do with checking them.

you also gotta make sure where you put the car to lower it you can actually move the car afterwards. We lowered mine on the drive and then worried after if it would get off cos there's a bit of an incline. B)

right will take to the garage tommorrow and ask about bump stops.

i am still getting the awful metal noises when i drive (not constantly) just over bumps.

but it dont sound like it should be doing it!

alfanige. cheers for that, luckily the squeak isnt an animal on first site. i dont think.

I also chopped the bump stops at half way. Else the car was really nasty to drive on speed bumps etc.

clayton, it is either bump stops, or get someone to have a look at the bushes, yours could b shagged, cause they are rubber they wear through, givin themetal knockin sound whenever u go over a bump.

mine is doin the same thing, wont touch mine til i get a new suspension set up, unless somethin goes pete tong that is. *touches wood*
