Hi there,

Since a couple of days I am the proud owner of a brand new GP 1.4T-jet. I want to install a subwoofer in it using the existing blue & me system. I did some research and I found out I have to take the signal from behind the radio or use the back speaker. I also found out that sometimes there should be a connection allready there in the boot, used for the factory sub. I checked that, but I can't find any so I guess I have to do it myself. My question is what is easier to do? Take the signal from the radio or the back speakers? And if the radio is easier, how do I get it out? Thanks in advance!

I'd use a Connection SLI 2 if the radio has no low level outputs. If you want maximum quality, hook it up behind the radio and run a signal cable to the boot. If you want maximum ease of installation, hook it up to one of the rear speaker leads.

i dont get why ppl dont choose the factory sub option, its awesome and you still have the boot space, even if u had a "propper" sub the boot space is vast youd still get loads in there!

I got mine 2nd hand as an ex-rental. If I had the dosh I'd have a top spec one but hey can't have it all.

Factory sub looks very tidy though. I think Fiat missed a trick not making it available as an aftermarket extra as I think quite a few people would have gone for it.

maybe people realise it isnt awesome, far from it actually, its weak and lacks response.

generally there are 2 types of people, those who dont care about having a sub, and those who want a proper sub. there are far fewer people who sit in the middle wanting a sub but only a small quiet one, that is why the factory fitted option is not very popular.

high to low level adapters are not a good replacement for true low level outputs (aka rca outputs) on the headunit, but you have little choice if you do not want to lose the blue&me system. i'd choose a decent headunit and kiss goodbye to blue&me, but it depends what you want.

Exactly. And I am one off those who want a proper subwoofer but keep the blue&me. Therefore I have little choice. My amplifier has a high input connection so I just need to run the wires off the speakers to the boot. If I understand you all correctly taking them from the rear speakers is the easiest?
