hi there, just joined the forum my name's David!

I've got a silver cinq sporting which ive had for just over a year now, its done me really well, been lowered, eyebrows, de-badged (well at back anyway!) did have janspeed twin dtm until both pipes decided to fall off within a week of each other so it sounds like an american dragster at the mo :D pics will be comin shortly

ive got a problem, my engine only goes up to 5,000 revs and then thats it, thing is all my mates in their cinqs can get 110mph at more or less 8,000revs! does anyone know what i do to take this annoyin restrictor off, by the way it goes 90-91mph at 5,000. im in between jobs at the mo so havent got much money, is it gonna be costly to do this kind of operation??

cheers folks ;)

As far as i know there is no restrictor only the rev limiter.
I would'nt reccomend sitting in the red i.e. 8000 rpm for too long unless you want to blow your engine.
Does it go past 5k rpm in a lower gear i.e. 3rd or 4th? is it just in 5th it does'nt do this?
What size wheels do you have?
It may be a case of your engine running out of puff, try cleaning/changing the plugs, 10k boosting it to clean it all out.

hi, yeah its in all gears, the engine doesnt let it go any faster just before the 5,000. its got standard 13inch alloys on 165/65s. i put 10kboost in bout 6 months ago n it worked really well (didnt solve problem though) it says to update every 10k or 1 year, do u think after 6 months it would be ok to put it in again?

David - Hi, welcome to the forum.

odd one this - you should be able to hit 6000 easy with the 1100 engine, the rev limiter's at 7000 - 7200 (not really a good idea to hit it a lot though). Have you checked the air filter / fuel filter / plugs / leads ?
Could be a problem with the Lambda sensor, may be over / under fueling.
Could also be that the throttle cable isn't tight enough to let you get to full throttle (mine wasn't when I bought it).

Not running on 3 cylinders is it?

Good luck, give us a shout back to tell us what you find.

Pete.
