Hi,
My car has the "ENGINE FAILURE" message coming on the display as soon as I start the engine. It's a 2004 Fiat Idea 1.4 petrol. It still drives fine and initially idles just above 1400 rpm. I bought it as an used car not too long ago. And read that "ENGINE FAILURE" sometimes means that the Battery needs replacing ? Maybe the cars been on the garage's forecourt for months and now battery is dead ? On the MOT certificate I can see that the previous MOT was done in July 2007, mileage was only 2000 miles less than now.
Anyway, I am planning to take the car to a garage to have it fixed. Not sure if I should go to a fiat dealer or independent garage ? Is there a difference in the warranty they give you on repairs ? The fiat dealer is 30 miles away though, just drive the car slowly to the dealer then ?
I think this forum should have a couple of top 10 charts with most common errors when you see a certain message on display
Thanks.
