Hi all,

I am new to all this and have just bought a Fiat ulysse with 47000 miles on th clock, I was wondering if the ulysse had a cambelt and if so at what milage should I get it changed (hope this is not a stupid question)

Thanks in advance

72k miles is the belt service, both petrol and diesel are not safe engines.
a belt change at 47k is really up too you.

Thanks for your reply kebab, I might just get it changed to be on the safe side, how much do you reckon it will cost? I was estimating around £200. will have to get some quotes.

Thanks again

Cam belt shouldnt take that long.

Im doing mine atm (Cinq Sporting). Its a case of whipping the old one off (1hr tops) ligning the marks up (20 mins at most if dead accurate), then putting the belt on and tightening it all up,checking and reassembling (1hr tops).

Id expect to pay £100 at a guess.

Fiat Dealers will charge book time hours which means, put car on ramp remove some stuff around timing belt case then go for a cup of tea!

Bet you they charge around 5-6 hours labour!

**** happens!

i dont apreciate comments like that [:(!]

£200ish sounds about right, i think the book times something like 2.5ish unless its a jtd version which are a bit more.

I was just wondering would they have to disconnect the battery while changing the cambelt? I ask because this car has a security coded stereo and I dont have the pin code, so dont know what I will do if they disconect.

rockercover=metal plate over top of cam, thought you were a Fiat mechanic?

that would be a camcover, cinq sports dont have rockers.
