Fiat Forum Rally 2004?

The idea having a reciept as proof i think works well, but the time limit is bad one. How can 900cc Cinqs be expected to finish the same time as more powerful vehicles? Make the limit too slow and it will no longer be a rally, more of a slow fiat cruise around the bloody country.

Key points for a rough outline:

- Must last over 2 full days, maybe 3 if it spills over a bank holiday weekend
- Must have checkpoints along the way (perhaps 1 checkpoint a day, where we all stop and meet up, and the last checkpoint could be a longer stint, to see who can last the distance?)
- Route more than just motorways and service stations (Welsh B roads anyone?)

I will try to get something on paper tonight or tomorrow, as a basic outline, then perhaps we can all modify the idea, get what we want, then share out various planning requirements to a team of people who could make the calls (if needed)

I'd be happy to be one of the front runners on this, as i have never been to a Fiat meet to see you all, and have always wanted to Gumball, so this mixes the two nicely.

FiatForum UK Rally 2004(maybe 2005) (FFUK Rally)

Basic outline: "A rally in which car enthuiasts will drive from checkpoint to checkpoint across the UK"

Basic route outline: "A route that must be long enough to provide 2 days (3 if a bank holiday) solid driving. A meet in central UK to be the start, then a drive to the south coast (point1) (ideas) and then on to the North of England (Point 2) (ideas) and onto the north of Scotland (Point 3) (ideas) and then back down the the start/finish point. (point4)

Basic route time schedule: "Friday afternoon at 5pm, all cars assemble for the start. Driving towards the coast, where the first checkpoint will be (point 1) where we will meet up and drink/sleep/B&B/Camp(?). Saturday 9am on to Point 2, meet at rough time of 3pm. Again, eat/sleep/drink for 2 hours, 5pm onto point 3. Arrive at point 3 at 11pm Saturday. Sunday 9am on to point 4 (finish). Last point ideally from 9am right up to 6pm. All meet at 6pm for final meet*"

* Open to intense debate and change, rough guide only!

Basic Rules Outline: "FFUK Rally 2004(5) is intended as a rally, not a race. Any speeding is at car owners risk. Owners decision to rally, must have own road recovery service, valid MOT and full insurance (obviously don't let them know you are rallying). Anyone not at checkpoints within the time agreed can drive direct to next point, but cannot win. Please observe ALL speed limits, road rules and regulations"

Logos: "Create a FFUK Rally logo, that can be printed and stuck onto (1)car bonnet and a small one (2) on both sides of the car. Any other sponsorship/stickers fully allowed, but not obstructing (1) FFUK Rally logos or (2) drivers view"

Rally fees: "Obviously you will have to supply your own food, fuel, oil, drinks, B&B if required and any unforseen costs (eg. replaced tyre). Additional to these will be a small charge of £x for the printed of three race logos (bonnet, and either side of car). Also a very small charge of £x for a winners trophy to be handed out at point 4 (finish).

For now, thats all i can think of as an outline to get us started, basically, everything above can be changed if mass debate disagrees. I will update as i think of more things to add, so perhaps the above can be discussed in an order so we know where we are! A format of agreeing:

1. Route
2. Date and times
3. Meeting points

That would be helpful and keep things organised. Perhaps the end of day meeting points could be near a pub and somewhere to pitch a tent. Again, open to mass debate.

The only thing with putting numbers on the car implies you are in a rally of some description, which will invalidate insurance, UNLESS you tell them, which none of us will.

Still, at least we are getting some good thoughts into this now :)

lol, i can't imagine what my mum would say! Ps. it's obvious that you would win! You:

1) Have one of the fastest cars on here
2) Have a fridge!!!!
3) Could go probably twice the distance that the cinqs could cover on your tank
4) Spoiler/roofrack
5) Plenty of ballast in the back so if you need to take a corner quickly, we all shift to the required side :D:D

We also have "dead good" sat nav, a fairly good map reader for anything different (at least one, me + any of the others...?) and gaz's stickers, what else could you ask for/!

YEEES!!!
1-1!!!

Actually, I don't think I have the fastest car on here by a long way!!

And if you are too heavy footed, that £60 fill does not last too long [V]

What a goal! Damn he is the same age as me, should have gotten into football!

Not many have quicker cars....not many who would enter this IMO. I did say "one of the fastest" to cover myself!

hmmm i am tempted to stick with stus car.......can i bring my cd collection???

Also i think we need to get a rough idea on who exactly is seriously interested in this thing.....it would be cool if we could get some sort of media coverage, er i do have media contacts so if we could get something sorted then i am sure i could get them to do a story[8D]

I have a bling* bling* shiny blue thing

Maybe this would be better in leisure lounge? More people seem to visit there. I know you're only in Stu's car because Mr Hottie is ;)

Now now, lets make it BIGGER then gumball [:0]

Sammi's CD can just about fit in the car, as long as we don't lose any beer space

Do you reckon there weill be enough time to plan it for this summer - when is next bank holiday weekend coming up????

New Fiat Ulysse 2.2JTD Eleganza, with options :D

I think this should be planned for 2005, to co-incide with the Gumball 3000. Mainly as if you give people a year in advance, there can be no excuses for not entering, as you'll be first in with the dates for work, you can ditch the family, sell the house...etc...

Also, a year gives us time to do this properly. Unless we have a basic one this year, and next year do it alot better? WHat do people think?
