I have a fiat cinquecento M reg (1995) and i have the following problem
when i fill the tank the pressure increases and petrol comes out of the cap. I then take off the cap and the petrol "sprays" out and a very fast and high rate.

Does anyone have any idea of the cause of this. I have replaced the cap as that was my first thought

cause its a pressurised tank far as i know they all do it ive learned to stand to 1 side when i refill know, spits like a Cobra lol

not as far as i know they have a tendance to leak petrol aswell just incase u see that down the side of ure car B) mine sprayed the guy on the oposite side of the pump at a petrol station once good job i was bigger then him ... lol

I did have that problem, with it running down the side. i first thought it was the cap. Which is why i got a new one. The petrol had made the arch rust( with the spray when driving) I have fixed that now though.

Havent had that problem at the petrol station ....... yet

howd u slop it leaking mine goes every where after a session of sppedy cornering

All i did was change the cap and i dont have it more than 3/4 filled and it hasnt leaked ....yet but still have it spray when i open it though

If it sprays petrol out of the filler neck, then the vent line is probably crushed or blocked.

where is the vent ?

from the top of the filler neck to the top of the tank - unfortunately you need the tank off to get at it.

If the layout is like the Uno, removing the tank is fairly easy. On the Uno the fuel pump hoses can be removed by lifting rear seats and removing a plastic cover. 3 bolts and lower. Remove fuel first!!!
