My car is due it's first service and I wanted to ask if anyone here has confirmed whether we need to get our cars serviced at a Fiat Dealership?
I called my dealer and they told me yes, but they would say that! Has anyone been able to confirm this restriction independantly?
From what I can gather, according to this report by the OFT, I may not have to use a Fiat dealer to keep my warranty valid. Section 3.7 lists the manufacturers that include a restriction on their servicing - Fiat is not on that list. (The annex lists all manufacturer's that responded to the report and Fiat was one of them.)
The main reason for knowing is the reduced servicing costs, but I have just had a thought. Will having the car serviced at an independant garage effect the resale value of the car. I imagine a car with a full manufacturer's service history may command a higher price than the alternative.
