Mass air flow indicator

Can anybody help recently got a marea2.4jtd that was running very sluggish. Having read other postings i decided to disconnect the mass air flow indicator. the results were imediate. I'm assuming that the engine has been running very lean (hence 40+ mpg).
Does anybody know the cost and availability of this unit.
And are they common accross the range as a local breaker has a jtd in.

try cleaning the MAF sensor out with break/carb spray cleaner ( dont touch it with anything else its easly damaged )so dont scrape it clean, a good spray will do then try it out
