Thinking it would be the easiest job in the world, i started to fit the valve. "Cut the vacuum servo hose- coming from the brake servo" - it said. So i found this pipe coming from that area, and began to cut. Oh ****, wats this clear liqiud dripping out of the pipe? it smells of petrol...?? Yep i cut the bloody fuel pipe! And right after i'd cut the thing, I spotted the correct pipe to cut- typical.

Anyway i made a temp fix, but just found out it didnt really work so ive got no car for a week- its goin in on monday and im hoping it wont void the warranty...even tho i dont have the valve fitted

So, the lesson- get a haynes manual/ a person that knows or has done it b4, dont rush into it- have a good look round the engine bay 1st and that even the cleverest of people (ahem) make mistakes

Oooooooohhhhhhhhhh bad luck. Don't get too excited about the Haynes, the pictures of that area aren't exactly clear as I did consider PMing a copy to you when you asked which pipe it was but worse than useless really.

what does the inlet manifold look like, yours is the 8v isnt it? If its anything like the inlet manifold on the older 1242cc 8v then there is no point fitting the ecotek on the brake servo pipe as it only feeds turblent air to one cylinder

Cinq Sporting - and yes, its broom yellow!

strange why it wont start then??? inertia/fuel cut off switch and has it been tripped, just a thaught it should be in the drivers side kick pannel near the accelerator peddle

the car will start but im not riskin petrol sprayin everywhere due to the tube ive used in the bodge up.....it cant cope with the pressure and in the middle of the jubilee clips it forms a big bubble which probably will explode if i keep drivin it.....

I know this is really obvious but whatever you do, do not drive it or run it! Your repair might be "ok" but sods law means that it will break and a small amount of spray will go onto your hot engine and there goes your car and in the worst case, you.

Again, sorry if this is a really obvious post and condesending but better safe than sorry right. Having done some work with sealing up pipes like this, I know you can so easily get a leak under any pressure and with something like petrol you can't risk it.
