I can only assume that there is a knack to removing the speedo cable from the gear box end on my X1/9. There is a knurled cylindrical assembly which I assumed would unscrew but to no avail. The assembly moves very slightly back and forth indicating that it is not seized up, is there a type of push and turn fitting or something….help

Hi, the knurled ring does unscrew. Perhaps try gently with some vise-grips.
If you get stuck, you can remove the drivegear and sleeve from the gearbox by undoing the 5mm Allen cap-screw on the side of the diff housing - then pull up on the cable fitting assembly.

Welcome to the forum :)
There is an X1/9 section, so you might find that a moderator moves your post where it will be found by people who actually own X1/9s ;)

Cheers,

Alex, thought it may be a good idea to check does this have a standard or reverse thread. I will use the X1/9 section from now on..too eager to get on and post lol
