And dealers wonder why we slate them..

I decided to try a little test recently to see how responsive dealers are when contacted about servicing costs - I picked 3 'local' dealers who all publish email addresses for enquiries and sent them all an email asking for 24k servicing costs on a 1.6 Stilo.

I sent the emails on Wednesday 14th April at 3:00pm and the result were as follows:

Rockingham Cars, Corby - No response received
Priory Fiat, Huntingdon - No response received
AC Williams, Grantham - Reply and price received within 24 hours

Whilst it's not exactly a huge survey, it certainly gives an indication how seriously the dealers involved take email enquiries and let's face it, in this ever busier world we are doing a lot more stuff on the net.

Before doing this I had all but decided to take the car to Priory for its service but now I'm wondering if I would be better off driving an extra 15 miles to Grantham...

I've tried to order a Punto sporting brochure off the web about 10 times without success! If you want anything done, or done right it seems you have to go a see people face to face! its bloody stupid in my opinion!

I did a similar thing Purple, I emailed them all to see what was the best price I could get on a set of side skirts, below are the responses I received from four different dealerships.

Dear Mr Twincamms
Thank you for your recent letter which I received this morning.
I can offer you a 10% discount on the side skirt kit (Part # 50900668) and
also on the adhesive kit which you will need to fit the skirts (Part #
5908061).
The total cost to you, inclusive of VAT will be £167.02.
As we do not stock these items I will have to order them in. As you know
this should take two working days.
If you do decide to order these parts, please reply to this e-mail, or phone
me on 01733 555670.
