when you hotwire a car to get it started?

just had something strange happen outside mine and just wondering

something very strange outside my house, involving a car, van and some lads. The car wouldnt start very well, and they'd been sat for ages

Police seem to be looking for car now

not your car then?

we had something similar outside our work a few weeks ago! the warehouse lad in allied carpets next door parked his bike out front and a van turned up and just threw it in the back! i was fitting a battery at the time and didnt notice a thing!

It usually just sounds like the car has been stood for a while as it takes a few turns to start it, other than that no difference.

thats what it was like

they'd been sat outside for about 40 mins.

white van kept goin past speaking to them, pulled up next to it.

so not sure what happening but didnt feel right

heard today tht a white van has been apparently used for stealing things outta gardens, i've just had my garden mown and tidied today

Sounds no different to starting a car normally. I had to do it to move an old van that was left in the yard of my mate's industrial unit. Might prove trickier on a modern car though - electronics usually inhibit the ignition & fuel injection so that the engine will turn on the starter but won't actually run.

The wires dont have a strong connection so you hear it making a clicking noise sometimes, thats the starter motor.,.,
Its not the best way to steal a car at all., its messy and on some cars there very sensitive and the fuses blow very easily,.,
better to unscrew the starter switch from the back on the ignition and turn that with a key or screwdriver, works like a key then.,,.(y) :D
