They should have cut me off, they should have cut me off straight away. Instead of letting me run up this phone bill so high they should have cut me straight off.

122 pages of itemised calls.....£9000, did you think it was a playstation controller you were using? the faster you press the buttons, the faster the car goes round the track?

you're 22, grow up, stop whining, get off your arse, get a job

"I kept trying and trying and trying. Because it's easy money to be earned isn't it? Well I thought it was easy money to be earned, but it's not. "

no shat shirlock  we'd all be ringing if it was easy money.

he deserves what he gets, i hope the baliffs clean him out.

When I started reading I thought it was a thread about brainteaser on 5 who were charging you for calls but the winners were fake.
now I've read it all I can say is "LMAO" its obvious that if the question is "Whats the odd one out, cat, dog or low life unemployed A**e?" thats its not worth phoning. He won £600 on his 1st call and then spent 9k trying to make more money, serves him right for being greedy.

I took it to Citizens' Advice and they said there's nothing we can do, you've dug yourself in this hole, you can get yourself out of it.

Yes, the CAB were right. YOU dug yourself a hole. YOU are legally an adult and RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS. What do you want Brett? A totalitarian state with someone holding your hand every step of the way? And no doubt you'd be the sort who'd then turn round and complain of a nanny state infringing on your freedom and human rights.

You sir, are an immature prick. :tosser:

maybe the Phone company should contact customers when their bills end up high. but then it's not up to them as to how their customers use their phone and common sense usually prevails. i once run up a rather large phone bill to my then gf's mobile and my parents made me pay it back. worst thing was that it arrived on my birthday so i had a pretty bad day. i avoid phones since then apart from my mobile which is pay as you go so i can see how much i'm spending. and limit myself

I do think that premium rate phone services should be outlawed, or at least greatly restricted to smething like 10p/min, but this guy deserves a medal for sheer idiocy.

It is idiocy, but the phone companies should expect idiots, a £1000 cap wouldn't be silly, would it?!

I'd say less than that TBH. If the phone company was more interested in customer protection than profit, they'd do something like call any customer who racks up over £100 of premium rate calls in a month to warn them of the impending big bill.

Mind you, the whole premium rate industry is a complete and utter scam and ought to be seen as such in law.

It's a horrible situation where people will addictions can spend a year's salary on phone calls without being warned.

Exactly. They should at least be making courtesy calls asking if they know the phone is being used as heavily. Could go towards cutting fraud from rogue dialers. Problem is it's bad for their finances. They're having to spend money employing people to phone heavy users and they're missing out on their big bills...

But if I ran a company and a customer ran up a silly bill, I for one would make sure they could pay it - because I guess this bloke can't anyway - and I would also need to ascertain whether there was a fault!

If you were as big as these companies, you would just pass it to your debt collection department. If they couldn't deal with it they will pass it to the contracted balifs.

These incidents occour so often they just expect it to happen. If he can't pay all of it.. so what. Probably still have £100ks profit come end of the year.

Who has 9k worth of stuff (auction value!) though? Even with a car most people couldn't manage it. It won't go very far. It just seems so unethical.

More people should take responsibility for there actions. Its NEVER there fault, was a story in a newspaper up here a few weeks ago, a woman blaiming everyone but herself for bein so fat. Her Dr told her to lose weight for an operation she was questioning why should she?
It was pointed out to her she was so overweight she would probably die on the operating table, her response "ITS NOT MY FAULT I WEIGH 42 FECKIN STONE"
