What a load of tosh that story is. All the different companies fill their tankers from the same refinery. In the North where i live, its in Cheshire and you can see Shell, Elf, tesco, Morrison, Total, Esso. Bp etc etc tankers all waiting to fill up!! So if supermarket petrol is contaminated, so are the others!!

Andy.

Theres a distribution depot near us - between bramhall and poynton, in cheshire. Yes, all manner of different branded tankers come out of it.

I use Tesco fuel most often, cant say I recall any problems. I did hear a few years ago when supermarkets started selling petrol, that the fuel they were selling was 'stale' petrol that had been in tanks for a long time, have no idea if theres any truth in that, probably just another rumour.

Re: reasons for not buying supermarket fuel

I stopped using Sainsburies petrol for the same reason. Jerked off like a motor possed when trying to leave the forecourt.

I used a variety of "different" branded fuels in my motor, I found Total lost if economy after a while and then after a while Sainburies started fooking about with my power output, car felt sluggish and none responsive. BP??? NEVER EVER EVER, horrible stuff.

Never had a problem with the SHELL... except the Vpower burns way too quickley.

Maybe the supermarkets don't keep their tanks as clean as other stations.

Not possible, BS standards dictate that sort of thing and must be adhered to. This could have happened to any fuel retailer of course. As per examples such as:

Re: reasons for not buying supermarket fuel

As far as I know [cant confirm it] the fuel is PIPED there, dunno where from - possibly from the big place near the M56 chester junction, is it Stanlow or summat?
Dont know how I would feel about a massive petrol pipe running under my house, maybe it dont run under property though?
