Ok, this may seem trivial to most of you, but have any of you ever genuinely bitten your tongue? I did last Saturday, it stopped bleeding about 12-16 hours later and was “ok-ish” for about 12 hours, since then it has been one of the most painful things I have gone through, and I would say I have been through a fair few painful things! It’s constant horrible pain (you know how sensitive tongues can be) and I have no idea when it will stop. I can’t eat meals properly and end up giving up half way through! When I eat, it makes my ears pop and my eyes water with pain. If I don’t drink water every few minutes to keep it moist, it’s like I am rubbing sandpaper across it. At home I keep my mouth open most of the time to keep the pain down and have to therefore make stupid sucking noises to stop myself fro dribbling.

Again, you may laugh at me, but I wanted to know if anybody has been through the same, it will be 7 days tomorrow and I just want it to stop!

I bit mine once in my youth whether it me my fault or not, it urt and I cried..

Maybe a tongue bandage would help at least if you couldn't talk, you can still type...

lol.. I'm sorry but what do you want people to say or think hope the pain subsides

If its that bad you'll have to make sure it doesn't get infected:eek:

Pop down your docs and see what he says, it will be sore and since its constantly moist will take longer to start healing but get it checked out to be on the safe side(y)

I have been using oraldene 3 times a day to stop that, it's not infected fortunately, you can see it healing, it's just as that as pointed out above, it is always moist so takes an age to fix!

I will give it until middle of next week before I get it checked.

I wanted to share my pain ;) and see if anybody else had done it.

Nope, never done it.

I have however given birth to 2 children so if you want to talk about REAL pain.....

:D

I am not putting it in the same league as that, don't worry ;) I have hurt myself many a times, a few I wouldn't want to type here though!

I had a paper cut once :p

Me too ;) About a month ago, before christmas, i got one and it was bleeding over my work, so I went to ask for a plaster so I wouldn't get blood on important documents, I was told I could have one but I needed to fill in an accident form etc....

I didn't bother!

Nearly two years ago my son (then 8 years old) bit through his tongue while out playing. When I say bit through I mean bit through, there was a hole in his tongue. We took him to hospital, the bleeding was seriously scary. Anyway, they rinsed his mouth out, checked it was just the tongue and not a vein and sent us home. He was very sore but was told to rinse his mouth frequently with some stuff that was prescribed by the doctor. Not fun. It took over a month before he could eat properly again and he has a little scar on his tongue which is impressive.

I didn't go through mine, thank God, but I went very deep, and it's not at the tip either but about 1 cm inwards, so much thicker there. I winced when I did it and it made my eyes water with pain, in a restaurant lol. I thought the continuous blood would make me be sick but luckily I wasn't. A month Steve? I hope mine isn't that severe, I hate not being able to enjoy food.

I won't even have a scar!

:yeahthat: i did exactly the same thing when i was younger, hurts like hell!! they did same thing at hospital to me

I have been doing salt too, since it helps to clean it and the pain is pretty bad so for the next hour it feels a lot better, but Oraldene does the same without the pain and it makes my mouth weirdly numb!

Reckon you need to get it looked at.

In the summer my little boy went right through his when doing long jump.He had a 2cm hole in the top center of his and punctured underneath, they said at the hospital that if it had a split underneath they would have stitched it...he has a scar now.

But it had started to close by the next day and the tongue should heal quicker, not slower.

Don't drink the salt, twill dehydrate you and you'll die.

I've bitten my tounge plenty times, usually when I'm really hungry and am battering off some tasty munch, the teeth get to excited and they go on machine mode and will attempt to eat everything in the mouth, it does hurt.. but the foods to good to stop eating.

Right now though, I'm afraid to eat or drink anything.

Was throwing up all day yesterday and this is the first time I've been out of bed other then running to hug toilet. The toilet was the only one there for me yesterday.

Then I used me noggin and got a bucket... which late last night I dropped my mobile into :yuck:

I have not eaten since wednesday 2000. everything I attempted to eat or drink was thrown up 20 mins later. So in frustration I started drink lots of water... which was all thrown up but it looked really drinkable.
