Look at this holitically, why did these 2 decent young men make that comment? Do you think it is symptom of a problem that we have and do you think the Police are perfect and it's a problem of everyone else in society?. Yes I do think Civil Liberties are fantastic, that's why I fight, within the law, to retain them. I am sure these 2 young men would have held the door for my Mum and even listened politely if she had chatted to them a bit. I don't want to come across as anti-police, I could not deal with the dregs of humanity every day, but please do not let it colour your attitude to everyone.

Decency means something different in my book I'm afraid.

Two decent young men WOULDN'T have made 'that' comment to Policemen they didn't know and who had done nothing towards them. Decent young men would show respect to those who are there to uphold the law, not ridicule them for no reason.

Politeness can be irritating, a young Scandinavian lady stood up to offer me her seat on the Tube once. I have felt officially "old" since then. Seriously in the part of the Home Counties where I live ladies do get doors held open for them and some "after you" in lifts etc. I realise this is offensive to the more militant feminists but you can't please everyone so just do what's right.

I suspect, Alex, that you are not being totally open and honest about what actually took place here. And I reckon this original post was closer to the truth, seeing as you have dramtically changed you story further into the thread. First you and your mate were in the shop with the coppers "shouting" then you decided you were in fact outside with your mate, who was the only one to have shouted it, but you kept shtum. Then you walked away, but apparently you were there when the coppers were talking to you!!

Make your mind up as to what happened, and tell the truth. If you don't want to face up to having done something downright idiotic then you should not have posted it up on here for us all to be made aware.


As for renegade_8, I really am truly disappointed in how your perspective is totally twisted. A real shame and disappointment, in my humble estimation, as I had made you out to be far more morally superior than you are demonstrating in you posts in this thread.
