This is terrible...

I read that earlier - why on earth was their boiling water going across a bedroom ceiling - that's not normal building practise.

I feel terrible for her parents. I can't imagine a worse thing to happen than to lose a child. Especially from an accident in the one place you would imagine was safe, their cot in your own home. :(

i am absolutely horrified by this, i am curious to know how this could of happened. council housing near me are still getting radiators fitted to replace the old warm air heating. things like this should never happen and someone needs to be held responsible. this poor family should not have to go through this.

holy freaking jesus christ, thats horrible.

And as hellcat says, tis not normal. why would hot water be ABOVE the roof of the 1st floor. usually the boiler is on the ground floor and storage tank on 1st?? wiht most piping in the floor:confused:

one of my mates was scalded when young with a kettle that he pulled the cord on, he onlyhas half of chest of hair lmao

the council should do regular checks on these things to make sure they are tip top but its unusual hot water pipes going across ceilings? unless it was for upstairs radiators?

It depends upon the house. Particularly in older properties which weren't designed with boilers in mind, boilers and water tanks sometimes just have to go in places where they will fit.

My house wasn't even designed with electricity in mind. Pipes are all under the floor though.

Basically it's council contractors doing it as cheap as possible. Why take a pipe under the floor (requires taking up floorboards and possibly drilling joists) when you can pipe-clip it up the wall, across the attic, and back down.

Boilers are routinely put into the loft now, whoever is responsible will not have done it on purpose and certainly had no intention of causing this. For them the punishment will be living with the consequences of what has happened.

I can't imagine as a parent how you come to terms with it

Our new posh one was fitted 6 months ago in the loft...old one was in the kitchen hidden away.

Poor kid, I personally hope it wasn't due to negligence and that nobody is to blame, better an accident really :(
