Some insurance companies can be 5 years, but I know Direct Line/ Tesco only ask 3 years...

yeah, some are 5. like esure etc I would imagine.

39 in a 30, your speedo must have been showing a fair bit over 40!!!!

I know I can have my speedo showing 39 for me to be ACTUALLY doing 30 (std wheels/tyres/g'box), I just use rpm instead.

It makes me wonder if it's worth having a quick car to be honest, there's knowhere to use them on the roads and a track really is the only option.

Thats why I now drive a Brava 105JTD. I used to drive a 2006 Civic Sport, you know the one, wrap round headlights, triangle exhausts in the rear bumper. Damn quick for a 1.8. But where did I go, work and back and to shops once a week, now I don't even do that.

The little Brava suits my needs now, low mileage journeys at little cost. Guess I'm getting old.:( :)

a volvo that does corners like a proper car? is that a new model i havent seen yet?

what??? do you mean arse end hanging out, the one tyre fire going well, and more body roll than the QE2

Yeah, on some corners they can't keep up with the best of them, but on high speed A roads (anything over abou 70) they are just as stable, and handle so much more confidently than ANY small car I've ever driven. add to that a 3" straight stainless exhaust (straight meaning basically a 3" drainpipe) etc, and thats more than enough to keep me happy.

and on the twisty stuff, sure its wider, and a little bit lairy as it can't get its power down, so maybe slower that way.
but at least they don't feel like they are going to 'bounce' and skitter off the road alltogether.

oh i get you now (y)

on a motorway or dual carriageway few cars feel as safe at speed, especially around the corners. i've been in a T5 and it felt like we were only going 70 when the speedo said 140mph!! it felt like we could do 200 safely with no problems. even an impreza feels like its moving at 140, but that T5 felt like it was crusing not speeding. even a new 3 series doesnt feel as stable and safe. but around the town that same T5 got beat by most things, it needed 4WD, then it would be a real beast.

HAHA - im pleased to say thats not me :)

as for my car its not the fiat its the lump of crap im driving at the mo my little clio and the speedo is crap there is only about 1cm between 30-40 and it wobbles so i only ever have a rougth idea of what speed im doing -

think im going to have to pick up a road angle now - cant be getting any more points , and lose my job -

main thing im worrying about is my insurance - will that go up much paying £1400 as it is not on my little 1.4 @ 21 years old -(dont have any no claims yet have had to be on parents insurance) will the 3 points affect my insurace much then ?

hard to say. it depends on the person and insurance company, but your first 3 points for an SP30 dont usually make that much difference, or any difference with some companies. it makes more difference for under 25s, and since the difference is a percentage of your premium it means you'll pay a larger amount because you have a high premium already. if it was 10% that would only mean a £40 increase for me, but a £140 increase for you. :(
