ok, now i know that u have to display a nitrous sticker when u have it fitted to show its fitted incase of an emergancy, but are u actually allowed to use it on the road? if ur not allowed, then surely u dont have ot declare it to the incurace companys as its not a road legal mod? anyone shed some light onto the do's and donts of nos?

Dunc

Ive heard its legal (fitted and road usage) on the proviso that you have adequate insurance and display a 'compressed gas' placard. Which really confuses me as I'm not obliged to display such a placard when carrying SCUBA cylinders (regardless of how full they are)...as N2O and air in that compressed state probably arent much different...

Check with VOSA, the DVLA and the Police is probably the best way to find out tbh...

Surely your warning sticker should say both "compressed gas" and "oxidising agent"? N2O itself won't burn, but it will make any fuel burn much more fiercely than normal.

I could have swron i read somewhere that if you are carrying O2 cylinders some sort of sign had to be displayed.

Oh well, learn something new every day. :D

Its not 100% O2..only 21% :D AKA Air..

If youre carry oxygen the rules are different....

you dont need a sticker for NO2 either. there is a legal requirement for commercial vehicles to display a suitable sticker but this does not apply to private vehicles, which are not even obliged to display a green compressed gas sticker.

I seen a 300zx thats completely road legal that uses NO2 all the time.. Had this crazy mind boggling setup with huge turbo's and NO2 which was on until the turbo's kicked in and then automatically switched off. That passed an MOT and was used on the road, without the NO2 it would have been undriveable i think so must be legal if insured..
