I am off on my jollies in three weeks :slayer:

I know the rules of what you can and cant take on the plane are still quite tight.

We arent having a meal on the flight and wondered if its ok to take food onboard like a sarnie or something? Has anyone attempted to take food on the plane?

I dont want to buy stuff and end up wasting it.

Flew out to Hong Kong just before they relaxed the rules. At the time no liquids were allowed, one bag only and it was size restricted. Had to also remove my jacket and shoes so they could be x-rayed.

With reference to your baggage size, check with your airline for their limits. BAA offer guidance but the majority of airlines have set smaller limits.

Helz pointed he FAQ out to me

What foodstuffs can I carry in my hand luggage? Can I take my wedding cake?
You can take most solid food, including wedding cake. Food in sauces or dishes that have a high liquid content will need to be in containers 100ml or less, and go into a transparent, re-sealable bag.

whoo hoo :D

The bag rule applies to going through first security, was in Cyprus when all this first kicked off and on flying home I was allowed to buy a bag full of duty free and newsagent type stuff contained in a non see through bag, not as cheap but still possible, I had crisps juice and sweets on the flight home.

so you clicked it then:p

TBH if someone wants to take something explsovie onto a plane, they are going to get it on there anyway.

I flew from ulanbataar, to beijing, then BA from beijing to heathrow.
and didn't get checked once for anything, even though I was easily carrying twice (nearly 2.5x) the hand luggage weight limit on my back.
I was eating thru the so called security zones
And the mettalic alarm went off, I stopped turned around and they just gested me to continue anyway:eek:
Got into heathrow, there was ONE MAN checking passports, for 2planes (thats 700people from Beijing and malaysia), just slid passport past him, didn't even glance at it.
then the 'Seomthing to declare' channel was closed and blocked off with barriers and metal cabinets
and the 'nothing to declare' was unmanned, and empty!! there was a shed load of cctv cameras, most pointing at the wall or ceiling!!!

Tis a shambles.
