Cruising to be banned?

not sure if im impressed by the bbc linkage or the fact you beat jai to it lmao :p

and erk, what happens if 5 modded cars happen to be travelling the same way @ the same time? going to pull them all?

may as well say no 5 same cars are allowed to travel together, oh there's 5 fiesta's in a line *arrests*

Yeah exactly, a wee scenario here, a large group of mates want to go to the cinema and a few take them in their modified cars, going to arrest them?
What if they are sitting in McDonalds car park eating a burger after seeing the film, going to arrest them? etc etc

The Police already have all the powers they need to stop speeding and dangerous driving, in fact more than enough. Freedom of assembly is a basic civil liberty, so of course it's being banned in todays Britain.

thats a ttl joke, its jus old ppl moaning..

my local falkirk cruises there is not racing, we jus sit and enjoy ourself at an empty reatil park, not near houses or nothing, what harm are we doing, ttl joke..

This oldie dont moan I own a modded car as well as some other oldies on here

this appears to a court order, rather than a new piece of legislation in itself, would be intresting to see the actual wording, as well as the scope of its powers....

the other side is this, when applying for the injunction, the council would have to provide evidence, certainly when you consider how long this is going to be in place for, why did the organisers of these cruises not oppose, or at least make their concerns known?

some cruises cause a lot of problems though. Me and H was coming back from the christmas meet last year and stopped off at the services at Telford. (about 3 am  )

We were chatting to one of the guys that work there and he said they had trouble from a cruise site that night - could have been cruise shropshire, but not sure. They had been destroying the services. Police had to be called. Its people like that who spoil it for everyone else.

the vast majority of cruises now are well enough organised, and a few even have proper plans and timetables in place, and talk to councils haggling for usage of land on certain days.
even when there is all that organisation, there will be some prick who can't resist being a prick.

But as usual, we are all paying the price for said prick.

I vote we eliminate them, permantly:cool:
world would be a damn site nicer place

And what falkirk cruise were you last at??

I passed after my work at the last one and there were fannies everywhere ragging it in between the road parts at the retail park.

If they want to stop boy racers from going around the town center then why dont they just put some speed ramps down there, then if they still decide to go around at least they will have to go slow.

Why make a big deal out of it, pretty simple to solve if you ask me.

They have in Newport though Ash it stops Steve 1219 from traveling around in most of Newport :p

fact is its about giving the council/police powers.
there not going to pull every group of modded cars but have the ability.
as said its the few idiots that attend cruises that have caused this.
remember its not just speeding,a group of cars with ice pumping out, revving etc is a social nucience and not fun for those living around it.

I wasnt aiming it at Newport i was aiming it at Nottingham.

Newport has alot of them mostly away from the town center though, around school areas, parks and in and around housing estates.

Its a bloody nightmare and ive caught my car on them no end of times but it they do make you find another route if possible.

Joys of having a modded/lowered car, it wears off after a while.

got an email from home the other day.

my mums saab (lowered a bit, by factory, only about 30mm different to the non HOT models), can't go over the sqaure humps, as the front splitter (factory fitted) has a cut out below the intercooler, thats mean't to fit over them, but its about 2" too narrow.
so she has to half and half it, or run one side of the car over farily gently so as not to rip/damage the skirts (factory fitted).

went over a new set of humps the other day, where the road narrows to one hump with bits of pavement stuck out, so she couldn't half and half, or do th other trick.
went over at abou 3/4 offset, and when the front wheels came down the hump the car has got stuck on its rear floorpan (where your feet go).

car got beached and had to get a council wheelclamping job to lift it off without damage.

caused half of whitehaven (mirehouse for though's that know it) to be re routed.

and caused fairly serious damage to th car (floorpan has been bent back, and has been anti stone chip sprayed since).

council aren't interested in the £350 bill since th car is modified!!!!

Now I'd dearly like to know on the exterior of the car where these mod's are !!!!! (the engine is mod'd, but if you look at it you wouldn't know, there isn't even a sticker!), the wheels have been changed, but they are exactly teh same dimensions as the OE wheels.
