hi im new wahey!!!:slayer: im a very proud owner of a 97 black coupe 2ov turbo, ive got a question for you experts...if im in low revs in 2nd or 3rd gear and i floor it, the turbo comes in at 3000 but it doesnt impress me until it comes in a lot harder at 4000? why the lag??? can anyone give any advise thanks adam :worship:

Try the Coupe section ans also FCCUK

Although lag is a fact on any turbo car, its impossible to get perfect (read totally seamless) boost as compromises need to be made on charger selection and fuelling and spark retard etc.... Only way you'll get perfect lag is really finely tune your turbo setup for top end and stick on a supercharger for bottom end pull...

Hum, I seem to remember the turbo spooled up at 2500rpm and got going at 3250-3500rpm, but that's from a hazy memory. If that is right you might have a manifold leek or someone put a bigger turbo in it at some point and never finished the job. If you're serious about this car go on the FCCUK forum but also find a decent fiat coupe near you and have them do a decent service/check over.

I reckon you notice it in lower gears more because the engine is picking up faster, therefore you have less time to wait for turbo.

wheras with a higher gear 4th-5th, when it spools you are gaining only a few hundred rpm, in the same time it takes it to do th whole rev range in 2nd.

nothing wrong with it, its basic understanding.

Or is it more noticable than that??

once its on boost, only a missed gearchange is going to prevent you from boosting near fully to the top end (140mph?)
