Yeah the BMW engine revs to 19,000 RPM, how silly is that. 'Tis scary engineering.
Another point i noticed today, the fuel rigs they use fill at 13litres a second. Thats 2.7secs for a full Cinq/sei fill!!
Admittedly the Ferrari/Shumacker (cba spelling it properly) has made the top end of the sport predictable. But all credit to them, a few years ago when Shumi joined the team they were not so great. They have worked damn hard to get where they are. I am a big fan of the sport but tend not to hold preference to a particular team or driver, well maybe i have a slight British bias.
The Grand Prix are still worth watching, just look past the red cars and theres still a good upper-midfield scrap going on. Renault have come back strong for example to shake up Williams and McLaren. Well thats what i look for today, ignore the winning and look for the racing.
All credit to the Aussi TV director for taking that on board today and not showing us lap after lap of a Ferrari out by itself but showing the scraps between the drivers.
I dont think measures should be introduced to "level the playing field" otherwise you end up with generic racing and that is what ruined the BTCC.
As was mention above give the car back to the driver not the software guys. This has been mostly done this season, manual starts etc but still the TCS kicks in at 60mph. I do belive that TCS should be allowed to stay provided it is only available at high speeds, 100mph+ for example.
This is because it is a safety feature. Anything that will prevent a car loosing control on a high speed corner is a good idea, ie if it hits a wet patch somewhere and proceeds to careen into a barrier. It shouldn't be allowed to kick in at low speeds, eg starts and slow exits from corners. That should be left to driver skill.
Anywhoo i have written far too much now.
