well i dont know about the rest of the UK but in edinburgh the wardnes are a privatly run affair awarded under tender/
anyway theres a whole hooha just now as it has transpired that even though its denied and against tender reg's that the wardens have been working to targets.
its coming out that they have been doctering ticket issue times, taking pictures at funny angles to make it look like cars are touching/over yellow lines, creating fake foreign no. plates, not allowing the council set grace period on issueing tickets amongst other things.
wardens are telling of the pressure to issue tickets and poor performance reviews,no overtime etc if they were below 'standards'
so anyone else had this in the local area?
edinburgh is a parking nightmare and the traffic wardens have been a bone of contention since it was put to tender

Nottingham's just as bad, they direct you to a bus stop to unload and then slap a ticket on you.I've been unloading next to the off loading sign and still been issued witha ticket. In Camden, was in the loading bay and issued a ticket for not being in the loading bay and at Tottenham had a ticket even though the windscreen was in line with the loading restriction sign. had arguments about the meaning of curb markings as well and what defines loading / off loading but the best one was a mate who got a ticket whilst he was in the cab!

I now carry a camera phone, every time I get a ticket I photograph the truck and appeal, so far I've won 5 out of 6 appeals. Have fun:)

Hehe thats the price you pay for living in those big city things......we just park our tractors where we want to stop to chew some straw & play with the animals.......squeal like a piggy!

sunderland and edinburgh and the worst cities I've had to be in:mad:

sunderland actually got a bbc (not ch4 crap :D ) docu made about how terrible the wardens are.

I got a ticket because the machine didn't work, and they expected me to walk 2 or 3 blocks into hendon (chav capital, you don't enter without somekind of 12 gauge:eek: ) to get one.

argu'd it and because the broken machine hadn't been reported/fix' by them that day they wouldn't lift it £30 down the drain, because of their incompetance (and th eother 30cars on teh street that COULD NOT purchase tickets!).

most places are now run by this nation load of arsethwaughts

if only it was traffic wardens to worry about

in london we have ;

1 - buslane cameras (on the road and on actual buses)
2 - yellow box cameras
3 - congestion charge cameras (+ mobile vans)
4 - a variety of speed cameras (gatsos, tuvelo and those average speedones)

ah, owning a car in the big city, it's the challenge that makes life worth living!
:bang:

I wouldn't go as far as stabbing one of the UNT's

but I'd at least go and stand next to them, and ask them random questions to deterre them from doing their lame, life threatening, but for no good cause, so called job.

yes I agree to paying a bit for parking, but only for secure parking where there is actually someone watching your car from getting attacked. not paying £5 for it to be parked next to the ymca, and when you come back theres a ticket left on your burn't out shell, with eggs on it(n)
