Hi all,
Well i think it may be time for some electronic assistance with regards to monitoring my speed as i may well have just been caught speeding (again). (n)

I know this question has been asked many times before, but as its a fast changing market and different products are out, ill ask again.

What are the best camera etc detectors out there?

As i dont yet know how much ill spend on one lets make it bracketed.

Best for under £100?
Best for under £200?
Best for under £300?

Either stand-alone or as part of a sat nav system.

So whats your thaughts?

pick your time and place, be aware or your surroundings, hand/foot/eye co-ordination, and never get complacent....(y)

regardless of how much you spend the above can be applied at any time, an over reliance on information provided by someone else may prove damaging to your license and wallet, esp if they've got the it wrong, the device malfunctions, or you choose to ignore it

Well it would just be an aid, not to be relied upon.

Im usually very good with awareness.
On this ocasion my mind was on soething else. Pulled out of a petrol station and went on auto pilot.

Dont know if i was speeding. When i saw the cam i was only doing about 30mph on a 40 road. But honestly have no idea how fast i had been going further up it.:bang:

Buy a car with a working speedometer?

Chuckle chuckle.

It does work, but as everyone was swapping lanes at short notice (due to the presence of a speed camera) i was wathching the traffic as opposed to my speed.

Drive with due care and attention ;)

I appreciate that every should drive with due care and attention.

But that really does not answer my question in any way.

it sucks, yet another driver caught out because assholes (in bmw's proberly!) change lanes and brake hard as hell because THEY were speeding, so whilst you were spending more time looking at the road and surrounding cars (what you should be).
go for one thats combined with a gps, more use for it!
the database ones are OK, but AFAIK they don't detect police sitting behind bush's in unmarked cars (nearly got got by one the other day, so I U turn'd went back and parked next to them so they couldn't get their sneeky shot of the road. they weren't happy and moved off pretty quickly!).

Ok so im still on the hunt.

Any good internet sites to buy from?

Would prefer one that shows actual speed as i think my speedo is way out. (n)

road angel navigator 6000. I have one and it is brilliant, the sat nav is good too (i found the tomtom ones are prone to loosing satalites, not so with the Road angel).

Only £250 aswell.

i use tomtom navigator5 with all the camera databases from pocketgps. its all free online to load onto any pda with gps, and it works. i've been saved numerous times. plus you get to have windows in your car, so i prefer my pda to true sat nav systems, they dont have loads of games, wireless net access, etc etc.
