Britian's full of benifit claming immigrants these days taking ur money anyway so dont matter where u spend ur money, see ur piont PNL but some people go away to places like egypt to take in the culture and the hot weather, my reason is the scuba diving aint no coral in the UK.

Fair point - but you seen the cost of staying in a hotel for a week in Bournemouth? [and yes, that is my fav UK holiday destination] Sod that :p Going abroad can be so much cheaper, and you get so much more - the weather for one, cheaper food and drink, and you can't even compare the heat/stickiness you get here, to what you would get in Spain, say.

Still, all down to my up-bringing - I travelled a lot as a child all over Europe, plus US, Caribbean, Scandinavia, North Africa, so holidaying abroad for me is always my first option.

I can remember a few years back when British holidayers were massacred by terrorists in Egypt and from then on I just think why do we spend our money on places like this and hey no coral but plenty of pollution and rare and old forms of turds floating arould this Isle :p

Ill head to the travel agent tomorrow for some US dollars then! Im going to Sharm El Sheikh (y)

Take mostly dollars but get a few Eygptian pounds for the arrival/first day when you may need some money upon arrival but haven't got fully sorted.

I went a couple of years ago, was massively hot when going down the Nile - too hot.

Dont forget the 10LE or maybe 12LE for the entry visa!!

Poondash...Theres plenty to see diving in the UK, we're within 100 miles of interesting inland sites (Capernwray and Eccy Delph plus the ubiquitious Dorothea and Vivian quarries in Wales!), theres loads of stuff in Lakes, Lochs and stuff like the Sound of Mull. Plus HMS Scylla and The John Eagan Layne are highly recommended :).

Learn to use a drysuit (if you dunno already) and you'll be fine, or if thats not your bag...youre less than 50 miles from a good fun dive in a metal pot. 50m in a recompression chamber!...Murrayfield Hospital in Thingwall :D. Awesome fun

take dollars (US) i went in '99 where i met my boyfriend while on a cruise down the nile :)

Im a regular at Dorothea & Vivian quary is my local site but even with a dry suit its stone cold, i have nothing against british dive sites their ok but my dads a dive guide in Sharm El Sheikh so might aswel get a holiday out of it when i go vist.

Although Egypt have been subject to 3 attacks over the past 3 years, its not the Egyptians doing it, their victims just as much as we are.

Just check the exchange rates before you change money i normally get a better rate using US travelers cheques over in egypt because the dollor is just ever so slightly stronger than the pound, last time i went it was 9.5LE to our pound, plus always take a spare 10-15 in english notes because at Sharm airport you have to pay for a visa which if u pay in egyption it costs more.

what hotel u staying in? Sharm El Sheikh is nice, plus if u have any old working mobile phones they pay mega bucks for them.

Yeah what a great way to advertise the destination someone is just about to go to.
We all have opinions but should you really be scaring the sh!t out of people?

I have a friend who works there and so lives there for about 3 months at a time. He travells around a lot whilst there and can not see why it gets souch bad stick. It no worse than going to Cyprus or similar.

But i guess its the same as everything really, its only ever the bad stuff thats mentioned and that sticks in your head.
