Question Bulb wattage

Hi all.
Im looking at getting some new headlight bulbs and im thinking about doing the rest whilst im there.

So although its not a fiat, as a general rule what are the max wattage ratings you can go to before risking melting things?

It would be side lights, dipped (H1's i think), main and fog.

Its for a 98 Laguna, (i have posted on the renault site but no-one ever replies unless the post is pornographic or childish.)

Cheers all.

Re: Bulb wattage

55W is legal limit, can get 80W ones though, go for ones with the higher colour temps if you can, i just wasted 9 on some new ones and they are exactly the same as the old ones
